So TNA releasing all that talent was not related to them dying after all. Who do you guys think TNA should bring in?

Great news if it's indeed true. I mentioned it a few weeks ago, but this really is the bent the business has to take now: the days of single superstar "booms" are likely over, and the drawing days of the Hulkamania/Monday Night Wars era stars are now done.
I just hope TNA's careful here; they have a limited amount of TV time, and they'd have to carefully budget things out to make sure they don't just sign young guys and don't use them.
That said, I wonder if they've kept any tabs on Kevin Steen...

Younger also means the talent is most likely cheaper so it doesn't change anything to those that think TNA is in trouble. They could use the salary they are saving on Devon to sign 3 people or just 1 and pocket the rest since they are on a tighter budget.
That said, quite frankly there isn't much left to sign between WWE's stocking of NXT and ROH's rebuilding because of it. There are guys like Trent? or some of the CWFH guys though I don't know TNA would want to pay to fly them in constantly. Then there are guys like DOC who TNA blew it with that deserve another shot too but the talent is just thin unless you start looking at Japan and Mexico.
If they want to spend cash guys like Hoyt, DBS Jr., DOC and Trent? would be at the top of my list.

The WWE has loaded up with NXT and anyone with the talent will probably try to get a shot there. I think that TNA is going to have to go with the ECW approach and take castoffs and guys that aren't getting a shot for whatever reason and repackage them and figure out a way to make them stars.

Between NXT and ROH, the free agent pool is fairly thin as far as non Ex-WWE guys. Even Homicide and Eddie Kingston, who would have been my first two suggestions a week ago, are working for ROH now. f***, even the Young Bucks are working ROH now.
Hmmm... Dragon Gate guys like Ricochet and Rich Swann maybe? Both of those guys are young and fantastic high flyers.

Oh for crying out loud, Joey Ryan is talented and probably wasn't that expensive. If they couldn't find anything for him, how the f*** are they going to find anything for other indy talent?

TNA doesn't know how to create stars though. And when the bring people in who made some type of name for themselves not via WWE they seem none to eager to push them proper.

I love Joey, and yes they couldn't find things for him to do, but I think part of the issue is that his gimmick struggled a bit to catch on touring as he had to tone it down quite a bit. Has an ROH contract There are PLENTY of really talented Indy guys out there that aren't under contract with ROH. Look at guys from PWG, CZW, PWX, and AIW... or the CHIKARA guys... or he Canadian indy wrestlers And I think this is a good move on TNA's part. I think (and have stated in the past) I feel that one of Gutcheck's big failures was that the candidates D'Lo sent through were awful.

I think TNA is looking for younger people to carry the company on. In the next few years, we'll likely see the in-ring retirements of Sting, Angle, Daniels, Brother Ray, Hernandez, Abyss, and Anderson, with Joe, AJ, Kazarian, and Roode being up there in years themselves. Their roster skews mid-thirties right now at least.
TNA should be looking mighty different within 5 years.

I think they might manage to snag some guys from Chikara, given that literally nothing is going on there right now

I wish they'd give Chris Masters a chance, and I don't mean for Ring Ala King or whatever the hell that promotion is called. Trent Baretta is another good choice, and they need some new blood in the Knockouts division baaaaadly.

The main problem TNA has right now is selling themselves to up and coming wrestlers as a place to go to make money and fame. A majority of indy wrestlers rather stay independent or just wait for the call from WWE. Like it or not, TNA's current image is a promotion in crisis mode. Wrestlers being cut for budget reason on a regular basis. Contracts are restructured with less opportunities to make a decent wage if you are on the low end of the card. Being the indies is hard enough. Back in the day, indy wrestlers would flock to TNA because you got a chance to be on tv and ppv, a chance to increase your bookings from the exposure, and WWE wasn't hiring certain types of wrestlers. Nowadays WWE killed that stigma about hiring indy wrestlers. TNA controls your booking if you sign a contract with them and you are greatly limited of promotions you can work with the no cameras, no dvd rule in place.
There are a good number of wrestlers out there who actually want to join TNA even in it's current state. Folks who can contribute from day 1 instead of OVW purgatory. But TNA needs seek them out. Since D-Lo Brown got sacked, who is in charge of scouting? Al Snow? If anything, the company's talent scout holds the most important position. Without new blood flowing in the company, things become stagnant and interest decrease which causes revenue to drop. And when they do hire these new talents, TNA has to find programs for them. Ways to get over said wrestler to the masses. Also keep in mind the phrase of "You get what you pay for". Go too cheap and you might wind up with subpar talent. Reminds of when WCW fired a number of the high priced wrestlers and used Power Plant grads to fill the void. OVW got so nice non-contracted talent for the picking. AJ Styles' old stomping grounds, Anarchy Wrestling, still produce some tremendous wrestlers who remain unknown. Seek them out, sell them the future, and groom them to take over.

I agree they should try to sign Chris Masters. I've been a fan of the guy for awhile and he's improved quite a bit over the years.

Just to get some ideas, who SHOULD they sign and what promotions should they take at look at? ROH has been bled dry over the past couple of years and are having to rebuild from scratch. Most of the hottest free agents have all been signed by WWE. Guys like MVP seem content working elsewhere such as Japan.
