The real question is why a guest ref for Bret vs. Jarrett, which wasn't a program, and I doubt it was even on a purely local level.

Hulk Hogan and Koko B. Ware vs. Honky Tonk Man and Kamala. And it was apparently the same night Honky won the IC title from Ricky Steamboat as well.
Shawn Michaels was once a guest referee in FMW in 1999.

I feel like it was going to be Jake/Hogan but Jake appears to be hurt that night. I remember seeing the HBK as a ref in Japan on a tape I traded for years back and thought he was going to wrestle there instead of in WWE, still cool to see.

NWA @ Ft. Worth, TX - Tarrant County Convention Center - September 9, 1990 (1,700)
Bobby Eaton & Stan Lane defeated Terry Taylor & Hector Guerrero
Terry Taylor, the former Red Rooster, and Hector Guerrero, the future Gobbledy Gooker, teamed together once.

Not only did I not realize that the future Tiger Mask competed as Sammy Lee on World of Sport in England, but that British Wrestling had its own wrestler named BlackJack Mulligan not in any way related to the Windham one.

Andre The Giant and the future Yokozuna in a match together. And Bad News Allen/Bad News Brown in there too for good measure.

I don't know which is more odd a team up Hogan and Koko B Ware or HTM and Kamala. What an odd combination??

I dont think Hogan and Koko is too weird. It just feels like your regular Hogan and Pal tag team combination, same he had with Hilbilly Jim, Tugboat etc. etc.
Kamala and Honky Tonk Man though..

I think the Kamala/HTM pairing came from HTM dressing up as Kimchee on SNME a month or so before this, which makes me think that Jake was supposed to be the partner instead of Koko.

Okay gots to ask, why was Boss man refing this match. He was working on coming back, they probably had him here as to gauge how to use him in his comeback maybe (plus, y'know, a cop seems like a good choice for a special ref). Perhaps they were thinking he'd work a program with Jarrett? And then something happened and he signs with WCW and it winds up coming back to the WWF 5 years later instead. This pretty much sums it up. Bossman was such a great character and talent that I can't just see them letting him leave but his last two months with WWF were pretty sad with the losing. At least after the Nailz beating it was used to further the storyline. The thing I most remember about Bossman possibly returning is a fan question to Jack Tunney in WWF magazine and the writer's for Tunney's part mentioning Bossman would be returning most likely as the fan would be reading the magazine.

...was this Michaels' 1st title defense after the Screwjob? Because Brawler had won a battle royal a few months earlier at MSG for the later title shot, and Bret was champ at the time...

So, yeah, Hulk Hogan vs. Pat Patterson happened back in 1980 but no film nor video exists of it. At least none that anyone knows of anyway.
