While I was bored out my skull at work I got to thinking about potential scenarios for Avengers 3, and I got to thinking about a crazy one that seems plausible but will probably never happen.
For this to happen the following things must happen;
-Thanos must be the main villain.
-Guardians of the Galaxy either has to go down extremely well with the viewing audience or bring in loads of money to justify putting the Guardians in this film.
-Dr. Strange and a Planet Hulk film must have happened.
-Robert Downey, Jr. doesn't come back for any more appearances as Iron Man after Avengers 3.
-(The most unlikely one of all) Marvel must come to a special one time only deal with Sony and Fox to use the Spider-Man and Wolverine characters.
Ok this is how it all goes down in my head.
Planet Hulk doesn't end like how World War Hulk started. At some point Hulk comes across the Guardians of the Galaxy, who reveal that Thanos is about to unleash a plan that will wipe out every potential universe that ever existed.
Desperate to get to Earth and warn the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D., Hulk and the Guardians manage to make contact with Dr. Strange who uses his powers to bring Hulk and the Guardians to Earth.
Everyone gets together in the battle to save the universe(s) and to help strengthen their teams, Dr. Strange uses his abilities to dip into two certain alternate universes and bring Spider-Man and Wolverine into the MCU to create the most epic of all epic teams.
Awesomeness ensues.
In the end, Tony Stark sacrifices himself by tackling Thanos into a massive black hole that will eviscerate anyone who enters it. BOOM.
Admittedly this is all one giant pipe dream, but god damn did I have so much fun thinking it up.
