Finally got the game, would have gotten it earlier if the USPS guy rung my doorbell Had the same thing happen with me yesterday, but with UPS. They had originally delayed my delivery due to "adverse weather conditions", but they delivered it after 5. They didn't knock, or ring the bell, they just left it outside. I didn't realize till after midnight when I went to my car to get something.

Does it seem odd that I think Goldberg is a lot better in Here Comes The Pain than in WWE 2K14?
Also, your review is pretty great, Chris.

Speaking of Here Comes The Pain, it is now ten years old. I feel so ****ing old, feels like just yesterday I first played it.

New glitch: Wrestlers stopped coming out during Royal Rumble (maybe 20 out of 40). I was left alone in the ring for 10 minutes then tried to restart and the game froze yet again!
Glad some of you enjoyed the review.

I never did a CAS, but I'm going to try my hand in it and create a storyline where Goldberg comes back because he wants to meet Ryback because he has a man crush on him. Goldberg will show up at every turn trying to get Ryback to be his friend.
They will end up forming a Heidenreich/Snitsky type friendship, complete with heavy breathing homoerotic backstage segments.

Speaking of Here Comes The Pain, it is now ten years old. I feel so ****ing old, feels like just yesterday I first played it. I first played Here Comes The Pain when I was 11 years old. That was five years ago. I didn't know jack squat about what when down in 2003. I'm a big Undertaker fan, and when I first played as him, I was completely unaware about him being Big Evil. Instead of the Last Ride being his finisher, I made it the Tombstone Piledriver. Now, I have the game yet again, and I having a blast with it. On topic now, WWE 2K14 seems like a pretty good game. How do the matches flow (if you played it)? Do you find it baffling that it took them nearly eight years to put Slobberknocker mode back in?

They finally re-animated the Clothesline From Hell. I'm really digging this game. Heath freaking Slater of all people beat me in my first match.
Edit: Del Rio retains the title against Henry, and the WWE.com section says that Del Rio successfully defended his title with aggression. Well played WWE2K14.

Just got done with a marathon day of playing. Once it the 30 years of WM gets to the end of the Ruthless Aggression era, it feels like the developers got bored with the concept ... and I kinda got bored with playing the matches. I played some pretty exciting matches with good false finishes, so I'll have plenty of fun playing Universe mode once I get into that. Defeat the Streak seems pretty freakin impossible. The closest I've come was with Ryback, Diesel, and CM Punk, but I wasn't even close with any of them. Still seems like it'll be fun to play with different superstars and try to beat Taker. All in all I enjoy the game thus far, can't wait for the DLC to come out.

I'm curious as to what the default alignments (face/heel/etc.) are for the major wrestlers (Cena, Rocky, Hogan, Punk, Bryan, Orton, etc.). Off the top of my head, all the guys you mentioned are set to cheer (face). The two guys that are off are Mark Henry and Big Show (both set to boo/heel).

One touch I liked was that in his classic attires, Savage wears the title under the robe (probably to fit the Mania 8 attire.

The main event for Night of Champions is Razor Ramon challenging CM Punk for the World Title. Somehow Razor is the challenger, despite being the champ.

Ugh leave it to the WWE Games team to f*** up Hollywood Rock's entrance. This is just as bad as the pyro being off for retro Kane's entrance. The Hollywood Rock entrances were done better ten years ago.
