I bought Batman Arkham Origins in the recent Warner sale given I loved the 2 Rocksteady Arkham games, and I'm actually quite annoyed at a game for once in my recent memory, not due to the looser fighting controls/reactions/bugginess (not that big of a deal) or repeated ideas/dull story, but because I clipped through a floor whilst walking through a door in the game and this happened: ...I assumed it was a silly odd Arkham issue, the other games had moments where you'd get stuck on pipes and such, just requires a reload from the last checkpoint... ...okay, I'll wait 20 minutes and see if I fall through the bottom level of the insane broken game world and respawn somewhere in the actual city... ...still waiting... ...this isn't going to work out, is it, Bats? 15 hours of doing the side missions and getting my money out of the main game! Gone! There's only a "continue from checkpoint" option for each profile you make, no multiple quick saves or levels to jump to if something goes wrong! I knew the game had more issues than the FANTASTIC City/Asylum games in technical terms but christ, what a waste of time. Damn dude. Same thing happened to me, but I was right at the start of the game, so it was nowhere near as bad. I do hope that Arkham Knight is still alright seeing as it's Rocksteady. Some strange issues you both had. I just beat this game and the Cold Cold Heart DLC and the only issue I had was the game would freeze once in a great while when going into a new building. Found out it was due to WBID, so going into offline mode fixed it and I played on.

BL2 DLC is 67% off now as well.
Today also marks the release of the Hotline Miami DLC for Payday 2. It's 10% off if you own Hotline Miami, a completely negligible discount if you ask me. It does bring some nice weapons to the game, though... 3 SMGs, 5 melee weapons (yay Fireman's axe!) and then some masks. And another heist, of course.

Steam has some pretty good deals right now: Borderlands 2 Game of the Year for $9.99 (75% off) Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition for $7.49 (75% off) Torchlight II for $4.99 (75% off) I haven't played Torchlight II, but I would definitely recommend Borderlands 2 and Dragon Age: Origins. Both are really great games. Torchlight is like a better, more family friendly Diablo.

Eh, D3 kind of edges it out in my view. At least after the recent patches & changes.

So anyone got or considering a GTX 970?
I've been running a r9 270 overclocked to 270x speeds and it has been fine for most of what I've been playing until I attempted to run Thief and Metro Redux the other day and realised its performance wouldn't cut it anymore.
the 970 might be a bit overkill for 1080p but it should be pretty future proof.

I get like 2MB/s so it's going to take a while. The reason for such the large file is that there are alot of cut scenes and they included both Japanese and English versions so everything is there twice.

I bought all of the Serious Sam games earlier. Dirt cheap, and I loved them as a kid, so I figured I might as well.

Alien Isolation is a ludicrously undemanding game. I was running it on ultra when my current tower is a "good for 2012" build.
The game itself after 4 hours of play time is...solid good. Bare in mind these are my thoughts of the first 1/3 of the game, or first 1/4 if it truly is 16+ hours:
Pros: - The Alien is ACTUALLY threatening and the AI is sort of random. It truly hunts you down. HOWEVER in certain parts it seems to be scripted to not appear at all, which you'd expect of the opening parts of the game, but seems to have happened 2/3 times since the intro/after it's appeared as an in game threat. - The atmosphere and tension are top notch when you're in control of Ripley. - The hiding feels sensible/smooth, no button presses to tie yourself to boxes or get under a desk or bed or anything. - The basic but competent item building system means you ration out your distraction/health tools. - Level design is nice, streamlined hallways and vents sure, but open enough with things to hide behind to make it interesting, with tons of spots for the Alien to appear from should it care to bother you. - Save points are not too close together, and not too far away at all either. Perfect for the stealth in the game.
Cons: - The humans/synthetics are there far too often, and are introduced far too early. The synthetics are HARD to kill (as they should be) but sometimes when you have an Alien chasing you, it gets tiresome sneaking/getting seen by 1 of 3. - Far too many "ALARM BELL GOING, HERE COME A GROUP OF ENEMIES!" escape moments. These have eased up, but between hours one and two it was irritating. - The story, well, the cutscenes bother me. At the start of the game too many were used when I'd have preferred standing my first person gameplay mode listening to audio files/radio transmissions to be told what had happened. This eased up after hour 3 though.
It's enjoyable, it feels like a late 90s sneak-a-thon, your weapons are garbage if you use them as weapons, and the game punishes you for not being smart in stealth. It's well worth playing, and if it continues to improve the way it has done from the start by making me feel more isolated/using less damned non-Alien enemies, then I'll be very pleased.
ALSO, if you get annoyed at any point, you can turn the difficulty down in-game without it changing anything/allowing you your rightful achievements, but to be honest I'm not sure what the difficulty changes outside of damage the damn robots do to you.

Thanks for the heads-up. I've only logged into Origin lately to play Mass Effect so I usually miss these things.

Also we have a Steam group? How do I join? Tried to add you before, but Steam couldn't find a "Gobwell" anywhere. So just post your Steam URL and you'll be added in no time.
