Wasn't this already done? I think that was a countdown. The Worst EVER! is where it's people talking about what they think is the worst water level. {Spoiler}Spoiler I thought the dam in TMNT was hard but it's not THAT hard. You have more time than you think and you have to take it slow but not too damn slow.
Also shocker Craig goes for the cop out pick like aways. >_>

Wasn't this already done? They put Minus World at the top of the list. In my opinion that decision invalidates everything the site has ever said.

I don't understand the animosity towards the dam level from TMNT either. I cleared that on my second attempt, and I'm far from any kind of pro gamer. Hell, I remember it taking me more tires to beat the climb up the dam. The only reason I blew it the first time was all the seaweed junk I didn't know about going in, both the insta-death seaweed and the gigantic patch of electric seaweed. Everyone always talks it up like it's a gigantic maze with dead ends and you have to disarm 15 bombs in 1 minute. As long as you switch out to the weaker turtles, it's not that bad. There are numerous areas of games from that time that're MUCH tougher. If that level seriously gives you that much trouble, you ain't got a snowball's chance in hell of getting much further. And I dunno about water levels ALWAYS bringing a game down. I always thought Super Mario 64 knocked it out of the park. The water levels in those were just as fun as the rest of the game. As for worst, I'll go Clanker's Cavern from Banjo-Kazooie. The swimming controls in that game were SO bad and it showed in that level (thank goodness they tightened it up in Tooie). And the level itself was so drab and boring whether you were in the water or not. Even the "highlight" of the level when you go inside Clanker is just...meh. I think that was a countdown. The Worst EVER! is where it's people talking about what they think is the worst water level. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}I thought the dam in TMNT was hard but it's not THAT hard. Are water levels really that unpopular? Because this has always seemed as a "hate bandwagon" type of thing to me. The TMNT level can be hard, but it is NOT a maze. As long as you know the pathway and don't suck at getting through that seaweed pile, you can get through it. For me, the worst water level was The Labyrinth from Sonic the Hedgehog. That was the first level to introduce that terrible music, and because Sonic moves so slow, it can be a bit of a challenge. Really, the worst water levels in games are the ones where the character doesn't swim at all and just walks slow, but I think there are plenty of fun water levels. Wasn't this already done? They put Minus World at the top of the list. In my opinion that decision invalidates everything the site has ever said. No it doesn't, because its just that game's water level on an infinite loop. It's a complete waste of time, and a waste of an Easter Egg.

I know it's a cliche but the Water Temple from Ocarina of Time is the worst for me, because the raising/lowering the water levels is so hard to do right.

Water Temple wouldn't be so bad if you could assign the Iron Boots to a hot key, but having to switch meant pausing the game a billion times.

I knew at least one person would mention the dam level of the first TMNT on NES. It's not that hard. Sure...it takes a few attempts, but when you get the general idea of where every bomb is...just use Raph and go to it. I never had any problems after finding out where each bomb was before the timer ran out.

Odd, I like that level largely because of the music.

Couple of plus sides to the 3DS version, it made the Iron and Hover Boots items instead of equipment and color-coded the hallways. Granted, I've played / beaten the dungeon in its original incarnation to, but I will readily grant it's better in the port.

I never disliked the TMNT water level either. Yeah, in my early days of playing I was killed a lot, but I quickly memorized what path you have to take to find all the bombs. Hell, I got so good at it eventually that I knew exactly what amount of pressure to put on my turbo button to swim perfectly through all the electric seaweed and past the electric blaster things without taking a single hit. IMO, if there's any stage in TMNT that's harder than hell, I'd say it's actually the next level where you have to find Splinter. That level IS a huge maze with really annoying jumps. The jumps in the buildings/sewers where you have to get to Splinter involve insta-start whole building/sewer over water, and "I'm a dumb wussy enemy balloon/moth who's going to instantly appear and knock you into the water if you jump too soon" guys.

The main reason I dislike water levels is because I'm hugely aquaphobic about deep water, especially in video games. I'm always afraid that some really terrifying sea monster will suddenly whip its tentacles out of the blue and devour me with its mighty sea-jaws.
Anytime I play a Zelda game, or any other game with a water level like that, I feel like I have to take a deep breath and work up a lot of courage, because I hate having to face those freaky things when I get to the final boss. The Angler Fish in the Angler's Tunnel in Link's Awakening. Gyarg in the Great Bay Temple in Majora's Mask. The giant dianoga at the end of the sewer level in Shadows of the Empire.
Hell, even in Super Mario 64, I would go out of my way to earn enough stars to let me get through the game while skipping the Jolly Roger Bay level, because I didn't want to swim down that deep water and face the big eel, even though the eel is for the most part harmless. I just hate oversized sea creatures. It's a phobia.
