We cut to the back where we see Petey Williams warming up in the back, as usual. Hermie Sadler approaches from nearby.
Hermie Sadler here with the TNA X-Division Champion, Petey Williams. Petey, tonight you have Kenny King in a Falls Count Anywhere match. That means there are no rules, no limits, and no boundaries. So the action could conceivably end up anywhere in this arena, or even beyond. Tell me, are you nervous about tonight's rematch taking all that into account?
Am I nervous? Hermie, when you live in the X-Division you do things that put your life on the line every night. Hell this business of ours is all about putting our bodies at risk each and every single day! You never know what is going to happen in that ring and what your opponent might do to you! I could go in there tonight and Kenny could break my ankle, or dislocate my shoulder, or give me a concussion, or even split the top of my head wide open! This could be my very last match tonight because you never know what could go wrong.
Taking all that into account... Kenny King, no offense to him, but he's a blip on my radar. And that's not to say I'm looking past him, but I sure as Hell am not nervous about facing the guy. Because let's face it: I faced the man before. I faced him years ago when he first stepped into TNA, although admittedly that was a different time. Back when our ring was still the beautiful six-sided monstrosity that we all adored. Back when we had new faces showing up every night only to vanish from the company mere days later. Back when Shark Boy was palling around with that lunatic, New Jack. Remember the time they were hanging out in that little kiddie pool together? Good times.
TNA has undergone alot since I've been gone. Names like Daffney, D'Angelo Dinero, and Brian Kendrick are gone. Once upon a time it was people like that who revolutionized this company in one way or another. But as time marches on so too must we evolve. And nowadays we have our Hamadas, our Eric Youngs, and our Joey Ryans. It's funny how a few years can make such a great difference in one promotion.
But the thing that's never changed about TNA, we've always been about raising the bar, about bringing a different flavor to the world of professional wrestling. Don't get me wrong, we may not be reinventing the wheel here, but we're finding new and exciting ways to use it each and every day we compete in that ring! And that's why the fans love us and keep watching, even after all these years. Even after guys like Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff have showed up. Because that right there is true loyalty.
And Kenny King... well let's be frank: that guy knows nothing about loyalty. I'm sure some people are sick of hearing this, but let me tell you a little story about Kenny King: you see there's another promotion out there. I can't name it here live on Pay Per View without getting fined, but you don't have to look too hard to figure out which one it is. Now in that company Kenny King had just won the tag team titles with a good friend of his. A friend who he'd been tagging with for a long time. They had been fighting for those tag titles for so long and they eventually won them after a long fought battle. And I've always been a fan of Kenny King so when I heard I was happy for him!
But then... well a few weeks later TNA offers Kenny King a contract. And you know what, I had no objection to the guy coming back here. Because he's a hell of a talent no matter what else you wanna say about him. But you see, King still had possession of one of those tag team titles. And... well he decided that rather than do the honorable thing and continue to defend them while he was one half of the champions alongside his friend and wait till he lost the belts to come our way, he instead straight up vacated the belt and dashed over here without officially losing the belt.
At first... I wondered, why would Kenny do that? Why would Kenny stab his partner in the back and leave him in the lurch like that? Well... after a few months of him being in TNA, I finally learned the truth. You wanna know the truth about Kenny King? About why he does the things he does? Because he has a massive ego. Because he's absolutely selfish. Because he doesn't care about anybody but himself!
And that makes me sick... it honestly does. And two weeks ago when he screwed me out of the Beat the Clock challenge, well that only solidified it even more for me. It confirmed something that people had been telling me for a long time about the kid.
Kenny, I grew up on a team. I grew up as part of Team Canada, one of the greatest stables TNA ever saw. We were as tight-knit a group as you were ever going to find here in this company. Yeah, at the time we were a little biased towards Americans, but we all do stupid things when we're young, right? Most of us eventually grow out of it. Because we as human beings eventually adapt and learn from our mistakes.
Unless you're Kenny King. Where you don't make mistakes. Where you feel your entitled to everything the world has to offer; where you can do no wrong; where you should be able to cut to the front of any line you choose.
Well Kenny, you are not cutting back in front of me, not tonight. You may have picked the stipulation, but that's not gonna be enough to win you this match alone. Because I just won this belt and I have no desire to drop it back to you anytime soon. I am back here in TNA to show everybody what the X-Division is all about, both back in the day and nowadays. And the X-Division doesn't need some egotistical gloryhound taking back his precious belt. Not now.
Kenny, you want this belt back? You're gonna to fight me all over the entire damn Earth! You'll have to drown me in every single ocean spanning the globe! You'll have to suplex me from country to country and back again! You'll have to lay me out across every single time zone there is! Because THAT is how determined I am to deny you tonight.
Tonight I beat you at your own game and send you back to the line once and for all! So hopefully you know it alot better than I do. Otherwise it doesn't matter where we end up when all is said done. Tonight, I am beating your ass once and for all!
Petey thrusts the microphone back into Sadler's grip as he displays that X-Division Championship for all to see. From there we fade out to the next scene
