What an odd, troubled life that dude led, even for boxing. RIP.

forgive me if this sounds ignorant. Yes you make all the sense in the world, but with how the times have changed with medicine, hasn't HIV become very controlable in the sesne of preventing it from becoming full blown AIDS? Can you actually die of HIV without it becoming AIDS? Or are you implying that he actually had full blown AIDS? I'm also not an expert, but I've heard that with with proper medication, a person who live a pretty regular, healthy lifestyle and not progress to getting AIDS. I guess the most public example is Magic Johnson who contracted HIV over 20 years ago and his HIV has not progressed to AIDS. Greg Lougainas is another example. He was diagnosed with HIV/AIDS I believe 20 years ago or so and seems to be doing quite well overall. Somewhat miraclious given 20 years ago, AIDS was considered a death sentence. It still is, as Morrison has proven, without treatment with the cocktail. As for Morrison, I must admit, I only know him from Rocky IV, the AIDS diagnosis and him being the last boxing loss George Foreman had before knocking Michael Moore out to regain the heavyweight crown. Any life lost, even through ignorance, is a tragedy and I feel for his family tonight.

RIP Tommy, hope you find the peace in death you couldn't find here.
However, I have to say I didn't agree with his decision to fight after his diagonalize, this wasn't like Magic playing basketball. I think the chances of contraction over two open wounds is low, but it is still a possibility.
