Turning a lesbian chraacter to falling fo rVin Diesel's character DO YOU HAVE ANY F***ING IDEA HOW SICK THIS MAKES ME?! Like, "almost could choke a person" sick. I'm a guy who believes in gay relationships and should get equal treatment in marriage, and this bull**** happens. I'm goddamn dead serious, too. Vin Diesel, you have no idea how much I lost respect of you because of this. And no, this is not a "lesbians ARE HOT AND MAKEOUT! XDXDXDXDXDXDXD", I'd react the same way if it was the other gender, just...F***! You're aware that Vin Diesel didn't write the script, right? I can't understand why you've lost respect for the main actor in a movie that was written by three other people. I'm about as pro-Gay rights as you can get and I guess I'm not seeing the big deal here. Plus, Vin Diesel's a f***ing good looking dude; everybody, regardless of orientation, wants Vin Diesel. Also, it's a good thing I didn't want to see this movie...

It is just a movie, please relax.
You are not offended by all the killing and brutality yet you are upset about a character that was just curious and realized that scissoring was not for her!

You know, I've been thinking about it, I want Vin Diesel to convert The Rock at the end of the next Fast and Furious. That would be a hell of a conclusion.

My ex girlfriend was dating a woman before she dated me, so it's not exactly unrealistic.
I find it amusing when the change in sexual orientation is the "unrealistic" part in a science fiction movie.

Rock: THE ROCK WANTS YOU, TO TAKE THAT BIG SUMBITCH, LUBE IT UP REAL NICE, TURN IT SIDEWAYS, AND STICK IT STRAIGHT UP MY ROODY-POO CANDY ASS! Diesel: I already did it three times, I think it needs to... Rock: IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK!

Would you be upset if he seduced Batista? I'd mark. Anyway, like others have said, it's not uncommon. One of my ex's dated a few women after she went through a particularly rough breakup with a boyfriend, and then went back to men when she started dating me (and has been ever since as far as I know.)

Vin Diesel, you have no idea how much I lost respect of you because of this. So, how much did you have for him before this?

First off all, cheers for the spoiler. Secondly, people can be bisexual you know. Thirdly, it's a film - who gives a shit ? Lastly I would rather know whether or not it makes up for the terrible second film or not. I'm sure it can't be as bad as Gigli which is commonly acknowledged as one of the worst films ever. Turning a lesbian chraacter to falling fo rVin Diesel's character And no, this is not a "lesbians ARE HOT AND MAKEOUT! XDXDXDXDXDXDXD", I'd react the same way if it was the other gender, just...F***! So that's you being sexist then.

My ex girlfriend was dating a woman before she dated me, so it's not exactly unrealistic. I find it amusing when the change in sexual orientation is the "unrealistic" part in a science fiction movie. Yeah, the whole "dude can see in the dark 'cause mojo" and aliens on another planet, that's fine. But a lesbian that likes dudes too, that's a bridge too far. Not to mention (keep in mind, I haven't seen the movie; not that I really had any intention, so the spoilers don't bother me) is it implied that she likes men now, or just Vin Diesel? Also, was it explicitly said that she was straight on men forever or is it possible that she could have been bi the whole time? Then again, why are we getting all "The Actor's Studio" about a movie from a series that, quite frankly, could have been a one and done and no one's feeling would've been hurt?

Jennifer Lopez plays a lesbian chick who falls for Ben Affleck. Note to Hollywood: the world "bisexual" exists. Maybe that's Affleck's implied superpower. Same thing did happen in Chasing Amy. How Diesel got his power, I dunno. I hear in the next movie that Riddick finds out why the character is called "Fingercuffs"

I've heard this happened too and that the woman was clearly supposed to be lesbian but ends up falling for Riddick.
Though you can't say "it happens all the time in real life!" She's a fictional character, so what she does is determined by a writer not by her own agency. Someone wrote her character to do that. Someone had to approve it and nobody thought it was insulting. They should've just said she was bi and been done with it.

Because it isn't, because it does happen. Your attitude is far more insulting by implying that people should always stick to one identity through their entire life. It's no more insulting than if someone wrote a story in which a straight character turns gay or bi, and no-one but bigoted loons has a problem with it when that happens in fictions.

I'm not implying anything. I'm saying she's a fictional character who doesn't have the agency to define how she identifies. So saying "it happens in real life!" while true, doesn't have shit to do with what we're talking about here, since this isn't real life. If she were a living, breathing human being and not a fictional character, how she defined her own sexuality is on her and not a part of some insulting bad writing trope.

So, because it's not real life, it should be more limited than real life? Also, how is it more insulting than when a straight character suddenly turns gay or bisexual, which I find in no way insulting? If anything, her being fictional makes it even less offensive because, well, it's a fictional character, its creator decides what its personality traits, and if the creator that she's a bisexual who thought she was a lesbian, how on earth is that insulting?

I can see the complaints.
If the movie was about her trying to discover her sexuality or dealing with complex emotional issues, it'd be one thing. But if it's "I'm a lesbian but OMG he's so hot and cool I wanna f*** him" then it's not really the same thing as a real life person discovering their own sexuality.
