Rush, as my brother used to listen to them all the time when we'd play video games.

Metallica and George Jones. I grew up with George Jones albums constantly playing, so I definitely grew up admiring him and his music. But I'll never forget hearing '...And Justice For All' for the first time when I was around 12/13. It blew my mind, to say the least.

Foo Fighters by far. My dad was a huge fan, and I enjoyed all the funny music videos they did. After a while, it probably transferred to Metallica, and they've had Pantera join the pantheon of favourite bands totally.

Damn someone saying their dad was a huge Foo Fighters fan makes me feel old. I can make you feel worse, they formed a year after I was born. In fact, Kurt Cobain killed himself the day I was born IIRC. So yeah. Not sure how to feel about that.

Fall Out Boy.
It was pretty much one of those bands that just spoke out to me how unclichéd their lyrics are and that they just even more awesome when it turned out that they got to be mainstream when "Sugar, We're Going Down" and "Dance, Dance" got them big hits. I ended up buying From Under The Cork Tree after all that. Quite a fun little album.
And, thanks to Fuse at the time, many of their first singles were awesome, too.

Other than KISS, definitely Breaking Benjamin. I still adore both bands, but really those two have dominated my "Favorite Band(s)" list for nearly all my life. Breaking Benjamin was the first band that I really loved and I still consider them my favorite band.

Earlier on (before 11 or so): Aerosmith, Prince, Michael Jackson (and whatever was on the radio at the time, those were the only artists I had albums by back then) Middle school (11-14): Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Frank Zappa, Alice In Chains (and many more, but those are probably the top 5) High school (15-17): Skinny Puppy, King Crimson, Tortoise, The Legendary Pink Dots, Joy Division (many, many more, but again, probably top 5)

From 12-16 I wavered a bit between Metallica and the Bee Gees, before latching on to the Dismemberment Plan during my "I only like music you haven't heard of" phase.
