I'm going to have to pick this one as well. First "band" I cam remember liking, although it may be for reasons other than the music (i.e. Geri Halliwell's boobs) About a year later, something finally clicked with me in regards to "guitar" bands, and I really got into Oasis. Might have been the tidal wave of hype surrounding "Be Here Now" (the last album release I remember feeling like a genuine event), or just my music tastes developing. That took me down the rabbit hole of Indie music, and bands that I still hold dear to my heart at the age of 30.

From 12-16?
Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention.
Well, from 12-15 anyway. It became Stone Temple Pilots at 16.

Queen, and they're still in my top 5. I had all their LPs by the time I was 10.

When I turned 9, I asked for bat out of hell II. I listened to him (also bat 1) til I was like 12, then I got into other stuff like metallica and etc, and I hate to say this stopped listening to mear loaf, til like mid 2000s when I figured to see if I would like Bat Out Of Hell II and his other stuff in my 20s...and it is still awesome (if not more) to listen to, and I still listen to his stuff, bat out of hell 1 and 2 are such classics.

I just got into music in High School.... so I'd say it was between Aerosmith and Green Day.

Since my friend introduced me to the Dr. Demento Show around that time, I guess "Weird" Al Yankovic, Tom Lehrer & Allan Sherman would be the best answers to give. Using that "12-16" age group limit, I'd grown to like Samantha Fox & the B-52s as well. (Samantha Fox as I was hitting puberty. The timing was great. )

That's a tough time to nail down for me; 12-16 was '91-'95. I was a big Run DMC, Public Enemy, NWA, Aerosmith & Metallica fan, but it was in that range I got into other music as well, namely pretty much anything under the Death Row, & Lookout Record labels.

Probably Green Day. Funnily enough, they have just recently reentered my iPod playlist, after seeing them play Dookie in it's entirety at Leeds Festival a few weeks ago.

From 12-14 was The Melvins, at 15 The Sex Pistols (after seeing them live on the "Filthy Lucre" tour on my 15th Birthday), at 16 The Cramps barely edged out The Ramones and Buzzcocks.
I just realized how lucky I am that I got to see all these bands live at least once, with the exception that I never got to see The Ramones. Closest I got was a Marky Ramone & The Intruders show (which was good not great, maybe a 5 out of 10).
