Best of the Super Juniors competitors have been announced. A BLOCK Jushin Thunder Liger KUSHIDA BUSHI Mascara Dorada (CMLL) Ricochet (DRAGON GATE) Alex Koslov TAKA Michinoku (Michinoku Pro) Matt Jackson [Debut] B BLOCK Tiger Mask IV Ryusuke Taguchi El Desperado [Debut] Alex Shelley Kenny Omega (DDT) Rocky Romero Taichi Nick Jackson [Debut] Source: keepingthespiritalive.tumblr.com/post/84711068195/njpw-news-new-japan-has-announced-theInteresting that Ibushi is not competing. Maybe because he'll be in G1 climax and they don't want him in both this year?

I'm interested in watching NJPW since those shows seems to be fun
2 questions
1) How could I follow the shows and PPV? I need some knowledge of japanese? 2) It's me or those shows sounds too "sports entertainment" for a japanese show? or times has changed?

I need some knowledge of japanese? 2) It's me or those shows sounds too "sports entertainment" for a japanese show? or times has changed? 1. You don't really need to know Japanese to follow their shows. You can easily tell who's face or heel, who's aligned with who, etc... New Japan's iPPVs are on ustream. 2. Times have changed somewhat. The bookers for New Japan, Jado and Gedo are heavily influenced by WWE while at the same time keeping the traditions that have emerged in New Japan. They are still very much a puroresu federation. There's never going to be an evil boss, no Triple H on Katie Vick action. You'll get the evil dominant stable and people fighting to take them down, but that's about as American as it can get, and even then that's arguable. Hell, the NWO was New Japan's idea in the 90s. As for those Super Juniors blocks, I love it. Omega and Ricochet are back! If Ricochet can't land a gig with WWE, I hope he can get on permanently with New Japan. Being Open the Dream Gate champion for Dragon Gate is nothing to sneeze at, but I'd like to see him in the New Japan ring regularly as well. Omega is going to be awesome as always. I wonder if the reason Ibushi not being in it has something to do with Omega winning and challenging him in the future? Omega has been pretty successful in his outings in the Best of the Super Juniors previously, and Ibushi vs Omega would be golden. XD

Absolutely f***ing disgusted to see this little small-time redneck nobody from TNA as the IWGP champion now. No words for how lame this is. And the match itself was shitty and filled with so many run-ins, felt like some goddamn episode of WCW Nitro from the late 90s. I'm ready to vomit. So glad i'm not the only one honestly a flippy redneck who turned into a emo dude for some reason then left is holding the most prestigious title in pro wrestling

Character flaws aside that have more to do with TNA than with him, AJ Styles is one of the best all around pro wrestlers on the planet. Sure he does some flips, but he's also one of the most versatile guys in a wrestling ring today. That is why he got the spot he did in New Japan. I can only imagine New Japan has wanted to bring him in on a permanent basis for a while now. KU-SHI-DA! KU-SHI-DA! KU-SHI-DA! In the next year or two, I fully expect KUSHIDA to get his due and pick up the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight title. He's worked hard for it, and he's pretty damn over.

Ishii vs Ibushi sounds like it'll either be a complete clash of styles or incredibly awesome, although I'm leaning towards the latter.

I fully expect Ishii vs Ibushi to be a match that we remember at the end of the year for its awesomeness.
I also expect Ibushi to bounce RVD style after Ishii spikes him with the brainbuster.

Card looks great minus the Gracie match. You know something is wrong when Swagsuke can't make your match watchable.

Results from the Yokohama Arena show from Puroresu Spirit... Source: keepingthespiritalive.tumblr.com/post/86786599890/njpw-yokohama-arena-results-for-may-25-2014New Japan Pro-Wrestling “BACK TO THE YOKOHAMA ARENA”(1) Road to BEST OF THE SUPER Jr. XXI: Jushin Thunder Liger, Tiger Mask IV, El Desperado & Mascara Dorada vs. Ryusuke Taguchi, BUSHI, KUSHIDA & Alex Shelley Winner: BUSHI (8:25) with the M/X on Desperado. (2) Special 8 Man Tag Match: Yuji Nagata, Manabu Nakanishi, Tomoaki Honma & Captain New Japan vs. “BULLET CLUB” Yujiro Takahashi, “The Machine Gun” Karl Anderson, Doc Gallows & Tama Tonga Winner: Yujiro (9:03) with the Miami Shine on Captain. (3) NWA World Tag Championship 3WAY Match: [Champions] Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima vs. [Challengers] Rob Conway & Wes Brisco vs. [Challengers] Lance Archer & Davey Boy Smith Jr. Winner: Tenzan (11:38) with a Moonsault Press on Brisco. ~ 2nd successful defense. (4) Special Tag Match: Toru Yano & Takashi Iizuka vs. Minoru Suzuki & Shelton “X” Benjamin Winner: Suzuki (:08) following a Gotch style Piledriver on Yano. ~ Iizuka betrayed Yano setting up Suzuki to claim the victory. Iizuka then dawned a Suzuki-gun t-shirt. ~ Yano was carried out on a stretcher as Gedo & Jado appeared to be stunned by the fact that yet another person has left CHAOS. Following Yujiro’s dissension earlier this month as he joined BULLET CLUB. ~ What does this mean for CHAOS’ current state as a whole? (5) Special Single Match: Tetsuya Naito vs. Bad Luck Fale Winner: Fale (12:05) following the Bad Luck Fall. (6) Pro-Wrestling vs. Jiu Jitsu Mixed Match: Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Rolles Gracie Winner: Sakuraba (5:33) with the Sakuraba Lock. (7) NEVER Openweight Championship Match: [3rd Champion] Tomohiro Ishii vs. [Challenger] Kota Ibushi Winner: Ishii (19:22) following a Vertical Drop style Brainbuster. ~ 4th successful title defense. ~ Yujiro Takahashi attacked Ishii after the match and in the process set himself up as the next challenge for the belt. (8) IWGP Tag Contendership Match: Hiroshi Tanahashi & Togi Makabe vs. Hirooki Goto & Katsuyori Shibata Winner: Makabe (17:22) following the King Kong Knee Drop on Goto. ~ King Ace become the next contenders for the IWGP Tag belts. (9) IWGP Intercontinental Championship ~ Pro-Wrestling vs. Jiu Jitsu Mixed Match: [8th Champion] Shinsuke Nakamura vs. [Challenger] Daniel Gracie ~ Standard wrestling rules, but punches are legal with the use of open-finger gloves. Gi use is legal as well as use of the Gi for holds. Winner: Nakamura (10:24) following a BomaYe. ~ 1st successful title defense. ~ Bad Luck Fale made the next challenge against Nakamura. Rematch from the finals of the NEW JAPAN CUP. (10) IWGP Heavyweight Championship Match: [60th Champion] AJ Styles vs. [Challenger] Kazuchika Okada Winner: Styles (26:05) following the Styles Clash. ~ 2nd successful title defense. ~ Styles received primarily boo’s for retaining and as BULLET CLUB were celebrating in the ring. So after the endless Suzuki/Yano feud Iizuka leaves Chaos for Suzuki-Gun? Thats quiet the swerve... but I like it. The Yano/Iizuka team was getting tired seeing them go up against Suzuki-Gun over and over and over so this will add a little variety there. Even if it is odd. This show also sets up Ishii/Yujiro (awesome), Nakamura/Fale (cool), and Anderson/Gallows vs Makabe/Tanahashi (interesting). Hopefully no more Gracies going forward...

I'm very curious to see who is next in line to challenge AJ. There really isn't anyone with momentum and not tied up elsewhere.

I still kinda find the Gracies bizarrely fascinating. I loved their tag match, because it genuinely seemed like no one told them anything beforehand, and they just assumed it was a weird tag MMA fight. Like, as the match went on, they tried more pro wrestling stuff, as if learning for the first time that they were allowed to do these things.
