Really looking forward to the 8 man this will also be my first look at Cody hall. Goto and Shibata closing the show out isn't surprising but not the match I'm looking forward to the most. I think goto picks up the win in a shock

I'm expecting Goto to beat Shibata, but as much as I like Goto I really hope he doesn't.

Finally got the time to watch the 1st round... LMAAAAAAAO! That Yano/Hiroshi match had my mouth open for a straight minute ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) I'm going with Makabe, Kota, Fale and Shibata in the 2nd round. And Ibushi/Shibata final.

Just ask Okada.

sigh... atleast Ibushi/Naito should be a great match

What I want even more than a Shibata main event run is a Karl Anderson main event run. He's proven that he can hang with the big dogs, and he's definitely over. Won't happen while they have AJ though.

Okada is doing the road to redemption storyline, Tanahashi is headed to have feud with Yano and Nakamura is IC champ forever.
Styles needs a new challenger. He had decent matches with Goto, Naito & Makabe at G1. Shibata vs him would have been great though. Ibushi vs AJ should kick all kinds of ass, but makes more sense for him to go after IC
Hope we get to see that Shibata match in G1.

{Spoiler}{Spoiler} New Japan needs to learn to let grudges go, guys have done worse than Shibata leaving 11 years ago in Wrestling and have been brought back as a returning Hero with welcome arms.
Did not see Naito beating Fale though.

Did not see Naito beating Fale though. {Spoiler}I wish they'd let it go too but I do see why they don't. Honestly though, Naito has been my pick to win the whole thing since the start. I hoped for Shibata, I thought Ibushi would be the best choice but Naito was the guy I really thought would win it. Either way, whoever wins between Ibushi and Naito is winning the whole thing. Can't see Goto or Makabe winning it

Hope we get to see that Shibata match in G1. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}What I could dig is the following scenario:
Ibushi beats Nakamura for the IC title after winning the New Japan Cup and holding that for a while.
After that happens, Shibata and Nakamura get into it randomly and we get Shibata and a group of guys (say Meiyu Tag groups of with GBH and maybe Taguchi) to go head to head with Chaos with the finale being Shibata vs. Nakamura at Wrestle Kingdom where Shibata gets the big win and his main event credibility back. One thing I'd definitely do is keep Shibata and Nakamura away from each other in the Climax and build that tension for a single's match.
Speaking of the G1. I know its a ways away, but assuming all the usual suspects are in this year, who takes it? I'm willing to bet we get a fresh match up in the final that we haven't seen before. Something along the lines of Ibushi vs. AJ. I feel like New Japan wants to go all in with Ibushi. He just needs to commit to them.
It just occurred to me that Naito's beaten two members of Bullet Club to advance so far. Perhaps I'm reading too far into things but I wonder if Naito's going to get a shot at AJ soon or start some sort of bigger feud with Bullet Club soon?

Makabe if he does would go after The NEVER Belt which he never lost.

i don't really know what's fresh matches are there anymore. AFAIK, Styles has never faced Ishii, Nakamura & Shibata in 1vs1 matches. Naito/Nakamura, Okada/Shibata (although sounding fresh on paper) both happened in G1 23.
Also shoutout for Cody who was VERY impressive in the Chaos vs Bullet Club match. Nakamura went out of his way to make him look million bucks.

Makabe if he does would go after The NEVER Belt which he never lost. {Spoiler}Ibushi winning is my choice too. It's the best decision from a company standpoint in my opinion (although the mark in me would have preferred Shibata). But something tells me Naito is winning and going after AJ. Naito is kind of damaged goods at this point and maybe him winning the Cup is New Japan's way of rebuilding him. The Cup isn't that important so it is not as risky as having him win the G1 again.

Speaking of the G1. I know its a ways away, but assuming all the usual suspects are in this year, who takes it? I've been thinking it'll be Tanahashi for a while. Okada gets the belt back from AJ at some point and it leads to Okada getting his big Tokyo Dome win against Tanahashi. I think that if NJPW decides to truly pull the trigger on guys like Naito or Shibata, it'll be in 2016.

Ishii vs styles would be so awesome.
Just finished the 8 man tag, and for what he did do I was pretty impressed by Cody hall. Everyone involved gave him a lot and made him look really good. Ishii and tonga squaring off in this match made me extremely happy. I hope he challenges for the belt soon although I doubt it.
Makabe winning and going after Ishii to establish the titles importance would'nt suprise me if they want to take the title to the next level like the IC and world.

Just watched the 8-man as well, which is my first chance to see Cody Hall but damn, I really hope to see him in WWE at some point. I'm glad he's training in NJPW no doubt but I'd love to see them bring him in for a program against Orton, possibly coming in the usurp Orton's position as the arrogant generational guy.
