{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Aside from the last two years, Yano always had a singles win against Tanahashi and both just went along just fine. Chill, by the love of all that is wrestling {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}I'm not fazed by Yano beating Tanahashi since Yano about to be a feature player in NOAH and him winning give him momentum for that. Fale beating Okada is the ugh. Just ugh. {Spoiler}{Spoiler} It's too early for Okada's Road to Redemption to end. Their not going to throw him besting Fale in the opening round of a tournament.

Marufuji, the current GHC champion, is the main defender. Yano is his backup along with TMDK with other wrestlers joining the fight here and there.

The winner of this year's New Japan Cup gets a shot at whatever title they want a shot at yes?
If Ibushi wins, are we getting a Nakamura rematch or does he go after Styles? Styles vs. Ibushi sounds amazing.

NJ cup round 1 is up on NJPW world. I'm just getting to Shibatas match, but the first few matches were very fun so far. Finished watching it. Tournament Match Yujiro Takahashi defeats YOSHI-HASHI via pinfall

Tournament Match Katsuyori Shibata defeats Satoshi Kojima via pinfall
Tournament Match Hirooki Goto defeats Yuji Nagata via pinfall

Oh those are the quarter finals? Huh, the recap site I was watching had Yano vs Fale, and Ibushi vs Naito. I wonder if they'll have Fale beat Naito. That Meiyu match, though.

well last night definitely changed up my ideas about how the tournament would go! haha!
At this point I'm thinking either Ibushi vs Shibata for the finals. With Ibushi going for the IC title if he wins and Shibata making a play for the World title if he wins. AJ vs Shibata would be immense.

Shibata/Fale final.
From the buildup, looks like Golden star and the Stardust genius are going after tag titles. Both guys are on similar level, just below the top 3 (4 if you count Styles)
Big NO to Fale winning this thing. Fale/Nakamura program was such waste of Nakamura's time. Matches were really good, but well below Nakamura's usual lofty standards.
As many have pointed out, Shibata/AJ is a MOTYC waiting to happen.

Take your bets, Jay White or YOSHI-HASHI?
Wow Tanahashi teaming with a Young Lion.
Also I'm a bit behind is this Cody's NJPW debut or has he been in matches before?

He's been working matches the past month, he worked today's event in a six man tag match getting pinned by Makabe. As a Young Lion he's been taking the falls for his team.

Cody Hall should be called Henchman 1, in memory of Scott Hall.
