Yes, he was heel when the Invasion stuff happened, but the crowd cheered for him (Poor Booker T), which is pretty funny, considering his gimmick is him being a major showoff throughout his whole career. Yeah, it's rule of cool, but still, I do find it rather ironic.

Wasn't he heel when he was with WWE for a short time in 1997?

LOL. RVD is an arrogant bastard. I remember watching one of his old ECW matches with Jerry Lynn that started off with him mugging for the crowd and doing his pointing taunt repeatedly for like ten minutes before they even locked up.

Wasn't he heel when he was with WWE for a short time in 1997? Sure was. I remember liking him as a heel in ECW, he could actually cut an okay promo, if Fonzie was next to him blowing the whistle and making ugly faces (not that he had to try hard). Nowdays, he's one of the few guys I just can't see ever getting heat. Partly because the crowd loves him, and partly because he just doesn't have it in him to cut a real heel promo or wrestle a heelish style.

I think he technically was a heel at the beginning of the invasion. He had feuds with Jeff Hardy and Jericho, both clear cut faces.
I believe his face turn came when he started to rebel against Austin. If not then, definitely after the folding of the Alliance.

I don't even remember RVD saying anything since he's come back, unless I missed some random promo somewhere.
Best for him to just keep doing what he's doing, being a Jericho replacement. (Think newz a while back even said that was the plan).

I still wouldn't say heel, he always came off like, 'I'm cool, you're cool, lets see who's better dude'.

He was a heel when he stuck a middle finger up RIGHT IN SABU'S FACE!
