He's decent in the ring and he can work a character like a motherf***er. I really hope they let him run with it. He can be a star.

I love how everyone though this was dumb up until they realised that it was Bateman.
This is one time that "Let's just see where it goes" actually worked out well

I love how everyone though this was dumb up until they realised that it was Bateman. This is one time that "Let's just see where it goes" actually worked out well I thought it is was dumb because he was called ETHAN. "From the people who people who brought to the wrestlers Gunner, Murphy, and Jesse; TNA brings to you the next, great first name TNA superster. Prepare in 2013 to get your face rocked by ETHAN." And the fact he's now cast as Dixie's nephew make me nervous on the outcome.

Yeah the fact that they were only advertising hi as Ethan was what most people were against...

I liked Bateman in WWE, but I only saw him as potentially a good addition to the midcard scene doing zany antics with Fandango or something along those lines. But now, with the haircut and perfect balance of humor and star attitude, I am 100% on the Ethan Carter III train. Push him to the moon TNA, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Eh, he wasn't bad but I was far more into his jobber opponent.

The more I think about it, the more ridiculous Ethan Carter III is for a name. It implies he's a third generation Ethan Carter, but I don't think people used the name Ethan 60 years ago or whenever his grandfather was born.

Yeah, there probably were Ethans then. Though evidently the name first really became popular in the 1960s.

I think it's good that he's debuting as a heel. He's got a upside as a face down the road, but going with him as a heel gives him a chance to get established in the minds of the fans, and give him a chance to do some entertaining things so he gets to the point where people are wanting him to turn.

For some reason I can't get it out of my head that it's meant to be mocking the ECW initials somehow. It probably has feck all to do with that but seeing ECIII makes me wonder.

Maybe because TNA's Ecw was EV.3 To me it sounds like a parody of popular sports nicknames like RGIII (football) and CP3 (basketball). That's where I thought the inspiration came from.
