Adblock is your friend (unless you're on blip that is)

I hate how they have videos auto-play when you go to a channel now.

I just get the option to skip the ad after 3 seconds.

I've been getting an unskippable one for a toilet that has an extendible arm that sprays your ass with water over the past few days. It's terrifying.

I get unskippable ones about Vidal Sassoon and Acne products. Like f*** off. I'm not gonna buy your product.

I was watching Lucky McKee's "Masters Of Horror: Sick Girl" yesterday. It's only about an hour long, and they somehow managed to squeeze something like seven (SEVEN!!) ads for The Walking Dead throughout the entire thing.
Just as a scene was about to get interesting...BOOM...Walking Dead promo. I love the Walking Dead, I do, but please YouTube, just let me watch this.

One week, I got one about a little girl screaming "Don't cry or I'll give you something to cry about!" to her doll. This was while I was waiting for Game Grumps videos.

I always love having a 30 seconds unskippable ad in front of a 32 seconds video. Christ YouTube, couldn't you at least leave the videos shorter than one minute alone?
I also wish they at least mixed it up a little. By the 20th time you've seen the same ad for something you're not going to buy in ten minutes, you're starting to feel your sanity slowly slide away.
Honestly, it's always the problem with Internet ads: companies assuming that annoying us somehow makes us want to buy their product. It doesn't guys, it really doesn't. If anything, it makes us want to boycott your product because f** you, we don't want to give our money to someone who's being a dick to us.

If an unskippable one comes up I just hit back and find another version of the song/video. I'm not wasting my time watching a 30 second advert for a product I'll never use or buy. The ads you can skip after 5 seconds I can tolerate.

Adblock is your friend (unless you're on blip that is) True, and I am still annoyed at Blip for their draconian anti ad block policies. Luckily some of the videos producers I like either have separate Youtube accounts or use Springboard which again is ad free with the plugin.

Well ads is kind of how they make money and ad blockers directly hampers their ability to actually profit from the service they provide so I can't really blame them for discouraging people from using them.

We'll just agree to disagree, because I really don't want to see yet another big argument about web video advertising.
No one is right or wrong in how they go about and try to make a living. It's just I personally don't agree with the methods that Blip uses in order to get people to look at their ads.

I have adblock but it doesn't stop Youtube ads. It does work elsewhere. It's funny when you get one that just doesn't fit like when I was watching a children's show Chuggington clip and before it was a Heineken ad. Heineken: Start Early.

This is my crossroad. They make money on their ads but I have had videos that are shorter than the mandatory ad and that is especially annoying. What put me over the edge to get was when the video hits an error and I have to refresh the page but that mandatory ad comes back. I turn my ad blocker off for pages I constantly visit, such as this one.

30 second unskipable ads don't encourage me to buy the product. Neither do skipable ads that run to two or three minutes, or flash banners which slow my computer, or autoplay videos which crash it, or loud adverts with some idiot screaming at me or some plinky plonky cover version of a good song by a folksy singer with an acoustic guitar with some hipster style "airy" font on the screen.

I hate that they are apparently run on an inferior server, so when I want to enjoy a video I actually want to see, I have to refresh 7 times because the ad won't load properly.

I have Adblock plus and I have NEVER seen a Youtube ad. As far as I am concerned they are a myth.
