Why? Simple.
I can unfriend someone if I want to I can leave his friendship behind Cause hr doesn't use FB to have fun And if you don't use FB to have fun Well you're... no friend of mine.
So yeah, I have quite a few friends, some of them from activist groups of some sort, others are firmed in political parties, so I get my fair share of self-righteous crap in there. But when someone only has that for the past few years and increasing by a large amount in the last couple of months, yeah sorry, it's well more than enough for me.
(I won't get into what he was always posting because that has to do with politics mostly, and religion to a smaller degree)
Does this kind of thing bother you guys too/do you have similar stories to share?

I unfriended someone because she posted a picture that stated that Obama was supporting the people that caused 9/11.
Like, there's having beliefs and everything, but really?

I did the same thing not too long ago. If you seriously believe that, then you need to actually do some reading.

I had to unfriend someone because he was (I swear on this) reporting people for being bullies simply because these people were DISAGREEING WITH HIM!

I had to unfriend someone once because they murdered my family and raped me while I was sleeping. It was a tough call, but I think I made the right decision.

Kind of similar to the OP, but I defriended someone for putting up a picture of Obama in a Photoshopped position. Not really because of political reasons but because it was just such an immature thing to do and quite frankly rude considering certain people can see things on your page just by what someone puts on their page.

Honestly, I don't just stop at unfriend, I go full block. I'm all for differing opinions and discussions, but lately for whatever reason I think there's been an increase of self-righteousness. At that point I usually just unsubscribe and I'm chilly chill. The unsubscribe button has saved a few online friendships for me. But this past week, someone I know who is kinda alright/passable as an acquaintance in real life just began getting a hard on for attention and deliberately posting antagonistic stuff on other people's statuses without even a hint of a troll's self-awareness. He was giving everyone a bad time and irking me every time I saw it. Unfriending just sends a message that I don't want my friendship with this person recognized online. Blocking someone removes any and all traces of them from your feed. You can't even see their comments on other people's statuses. I've even begun blocking friends of friends who I've never met because Facebook's kind of a fun escape for me and I don't want their bummer existence bringing me down.

I unfriended someone who tried to add me as his father I unfriended someone because her sister (for a very good reason) unfriended me and I knew how close they were and expected it to happen anyway
Anyone who posts stuff i don't like, i move to acquaintances and don't see their posts often.

I usually just hide people from my status feed because they don't annoy me enough to warrant an unfriending. I've only unfriended people if they're posting inflammatory things all the time, which has only happened twice in all the years I've been on FB.

Facebook was being a douche and not letting me delete my profile (they did the whole "don't use it for 2 weeks and it'll be gone", and I didn't and it wouldn't go away, finally worked on the third try though), so I decided to unfriend everyone and change my name to Funnington Jimmersmith.

I unfriended Facebook recently.
I'm going old school, daddy. Gonna return to a world where nobody knew what anybody else was doing, and nobody gave a shit.

Cue rant from ratetankmark in three.. two.. one.. Well played (Seriously since this isn't any of my business I'm not that fussed, on a similar subject I looked at the posts I made about this sort of stuff and I seemed like a self righteous overbearing asshole)

i unfriend people all the time. just blocked someone (my ex) for the first time a few weeks ago though. i was going to tell him if he keeps trying to talk to me, i would tell his girlfriend that he's trying to get back together with me, but my friend suggested to just block him instead.
so i blocked him and reported him for sending abusive messages.
which he wasn't.

Not saying he isn't a friend of mine, but he went too far. I have a cousin (my marriage) who constantly posts negative stuff about the current President, I have others who post about the previous regime, or the sudden caring about animal rights, or same-sex marriage, or other banner-waving jump-in-front-of-a-parade moments. I simply scan past it.

I think in the time I've been on facebook I've only unfriended 3 people, one was a friend being a dick to me replying to every post I made with the same 3 words for a month even if it was me talking to someone else, one was an ex for a multitude of reasons, but that's one I sometimes regret doing.... and I cant remember the other one or why.

never had to unfriend anyone, but I did remove a guy's messages from my feed because he thought putting up porn pics on facebook was somehow appropriate.
