It only bugs me if I'm enjoying the show and they're chanting over it to distract from something good, which doesn't happen that often - and is entirely subjective anyway.

Chanting can get super old super quick.
Sure, you bought your ticket, you can do what you want......But at some point you're directly interfering with other patron's ability to enjoy the show and that's well beyond rude.
You're not necessarily adding to the match like you think. You're trying to put yourself over and it's pathetic.
Not that all chants/chanters fit this mold, but f@$*! if most don't. A good chant can indeed add heat to a match and probably means the World to those working, but those are few and far between.
It's about you having fun, yeah, but not in a bubble. There are other people trying to enjoy themselves too, not to mention the fact you might irk the performers and cause them to eff the show up for everybody.
Wrestling is essentially theater yet you don't see them face such adversity somehow.

Wrestling is essentially theater yet you don't see them face such adversity somehow. BO-RING! BO-RING! TYBALT SHOUL'VE WENT OVER! Making noise at a wrestling show is encouraged. Making noise at a theater tends to get you thrown out. The atmosphere of a wrestling crowd is much more comparable to a sporting event, where cheers and chants are also commonplace.

True enough, but you can still pick my point out of there, can't you? Yeah, you make noise. You clap. You boo. You chant, even. It just seems like there's a line between being a participatory audience member and a nuisance that many don't seem to observe.

It will be declared a brilliant commentary on how the fans won't stand for the manufactured crap WWE shovels at them until some smark workrate darling gets heckled, at which point it will become this horrible travesty that dumb hicks use to get themselves over. Actually, I think this is exactly what's already happened. Yeah, wasn't Cesaro getting "BORING" chants or something? Yeah. From HHH and Steph.

My feeling is that if a segment is truly one of the worst things ever (I'm talking like the bottom 1%)... I have no problems with chants, even WHAT. If HHH is raping a corpse, go crazy.
If Vince is going on and going about the owner of the Denver Nuggets, keep on chanting.
If fudgie the whale is getting screen time, let's start chanting for the Brooklyn Brawler.
Just keep it for the stuff that's really shitty. It sends a message that they have gone "too far". When the crowd starts chanting all the time, it looses it's meaning. Kinda like swearing. If your dad NEVER swears, then suddenly drops an F bomb, you know the shit just hit the fan. If he swears every other word it no longer has meaning.
Chanting is one of the few ways we have to show displeasure for certain things... well, outsides of actually not spending money or changing the channel.

As long as the fans are interesting, I don't really mind it. I like watching the announcers have to try and call things on the fly. It's so unnerving for them.
Definitely nothing like the "What?" chants. And to the talents that this is happening to: do a better job.

It's extremely rare that I've thought "Wow that crowd spoiled what would have been a great segment if they shut up."
99% of the time what they're crapping on is completely forgettable and you're missing nothing.

Is there no chanting during American sports then?
The random chants and songs are part and parcel of football (soccer)
For what it's worth I think the crowds in the last 6 months have been generally fantastic. The WHAT stuff is as always annoying and I've always hated the you effed up chants but other than that I don't have an issue with any of it.

It is the company's responsibility to put on a product that is so gripping and engaging that the live audience does not feel the need to create their own entertainment. None of this "Oh, they're trying to get themselves over" rubbish. They are customers who have paid good money to be entertained, and if the show doesn't deliver, good on them for livening it up.

How long until that gets as annoying as the What chants? It will never get as annoying as the What chants. Mostly because the what chants are to chants what global thermonuclear war is to warfare. It's damn near by definition the worst. But yeah, if they keep up they'll be like a solid WW2.

Chanting doesn't effect anyone's ability to enjoy a show. If someone is at a wrestling show and they're having a bad time because of something someone is chanting, they really should not be at a wrestling show in the first place!

Ziggler is over Axel is not People are sick of Kofie and Truth, so stop putting them on TV, or re-package them Most of the middling talents are over in certain states and countries rather then it being a collective thing. One week Kofi and Truth can get no reaction then the next week they can blow the roof off. Same goes for Christian and Ziggler, though more people seem to be apathetic to Christian then not now, can't remember the last time he got a good reaction.

Exactly. When the product sucks, or the segment within the product sucks, it's the fans' way of saying that they don't like, or don't care about what they've been given. People need to stop being upset about the audience at a live event responding to what they paid for. They're encouraged to do it, after all.
