So, obviously Kanye West is one of the most talked about entertainers of this era, if not ever. One thing that people talk about is the title of creative genius that's been bestowed upon him by critics, fans and Kanye himself, in his recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel.
So, FAN, is Kanye West a creative genius in your eyes?
Personally, genius is a word that carries a lot of weight, but I don't have a problem considering Kanye a creative genius. I'm not a huge Rap fan (I like the genre, I just don't listen to it too often), but he's one of the best rappers I've ever heard.
He's right in that you're not supposed to say that about yourself, but if you're going to you best be able to back it up and I think Kanye does that.

No, I'd limit who I consider a genius. He does some great music. Hes this generations Prince IMO, and Prince was pretty damn good but no genius.

In my mind? Absolutely. There is some merit behind that massive ego he has.
Keep in mind, I say this as a huge Kanye fan/stan.

Don't care that he mentioned it afterwards, if you have to tell people you're a genius, you aren't.

I'd say yes. Everything he does, while somewhat insane seeming, has an aura of artistic genius. I want to enter Kanye's brain just to see what kind of beautiful insanity is in there.

I don't know if I can give an objective opinion. He's an asshole, which isn't a problem because I've appreciated the works of a fair share of assholes, but I just don't hear what others hear when it comes to his music at all. His music sounds just as over produced and candy coated as anything else you hear on the radio to me.

He's creative but I don't label him a "creative genius". I don't think I'll do that with anyone.

No, he remixes other people's music and talks over it. Does it take skill? Sure, but he doesn't do anything that is exactly original or innovative.

No, he's rather generic actually. A walking example of hip-hop cliches.

He's product like everyone else. I remember when College Drop-Out came out, it was basically, "This is the new star, this is what you'll like now". Same as, well, everyone in the past 10 ten years or so. Whatever he calls his music is f***ing horrible for this. Eminem's friend, or Tupac's friend shits out an album, they make sure everyone knows who they know, and they become stars.
Why else would he latch himself to Kim I can't spell her last name? Free publicity!

I doubt he's "one of the most talked about entertainers of this era". I probably hear more about other artists and their music than about kanye. In fact, i hear more about kanye's ego than about his music.
