They know he's "made" so hell with it, give him the B show belt and let him elevate that show. It needs it. This much I think we can agree on with SD ratings being what they are, but it also speaks to a delusion they seem to have about Orton.
For some reason I see them thinking this is Orton's "chance" with "the real title", that some crazy how the times he's Thelma and Louise'ed SD's ratings while on top was just because the title hadn't been "made" important yet.
So now Cena's finally going to put the belt over, and Orton's going to "show how much of a draw he really is" with the "established" title.
I picture the meeting where they decided on Orton getting the big push again ending with a Dr. Weird run in, yelling "This time, it will be different!" and then being eaten by a spider.

Well, since all this Triple H stuff started, Smackdown does seem to have a bit more going on (other than a few shows where they seemed to just not care), so it's a theory.
I kinda just hope they're going down the unification route, and then in a dream world once they're unified they give the big new belt to Bryan at Mania.

The problem is with the Authority angle taking place on both shows, it overshadows the World Title. And even Cena as champ isn't going to change that. I see it as more of keeping Cena in a relatively high spot on the card, but out of the way more than I see it as Cena elevating the title or SmackDown. The WHC at this point is effectively "unified" with the John Cena Championship, while the John Cena Championshlp has been "downgraded".

It makes sense that they've shuffled Cena out of the way because really he should be slap bang in the middle of the Authority stuff because of the Bryan loss alone. "LETS SEE WHERE THIS GOES GUYS"

I'd just like to know why they aren't confident with the guy that's the most cheered in the company to hold the WWE belt from one PPV to another.
It has cleared "face chasing the title" and on into the territory of making fun of all the people cheering Daniel Bryan.

It annoys me when people keep yelling about Cena and Orton both holding the belts at the same time is returning to some kind of status quo that has frequented WWE, when outside of about 2 and a half months in 2011, this is the only other time that's happened

I actually think the reasoning is more that they plotted out this big Authority angle on the assumption that Cena would be gone until at least the Rumble, so then when he came back early, they would have had to derail all their booking plans to fit him back in, at least for the next few months.
So for once, they actually benefited from having a secondary "world" title that's theoretically as important as the main event, even though it's rarely treated as such.

Agree100% about Cena & the WHC.
I like the idea you have with Randy, but in order for me to really think that this is a good direction, I'd like to see a dynamic promo from him where he gets himself & the idea of him as champion over. Unfortunately, the angle is completely gummed up at the moment w/HHH, Steph, Shawn & Big Show. Vince I suspect isn't far behind either.

Cena and Orton as top face and top heel, in general. Cena's talented but fans have been sick of him for like 5 years. Orton's talented but he's been on auto-pilot for a while now. They're both pretty much old-hat at this point. They're both big, for 2013 anyway. And they're both well ingrained in the minds of the WWE Universe. It's safe, it's easy, it feels right. That's the logic I see. As a fan, BO-RING. Trying to see it from their perspective, I get it.
