This was a year where gamers said a $3,845,170 'screw you' to Capcom. They have to be in the running. I can't say anything bad about them right now because of the awesomeness that was Dual Destinies. We'll see how long that lasts, though. Can't deny that they have seen better days. Microsoft, boy did they really screw the pooch this year. Yeah, I'd go with Microsoft. EA's handling of the Tiger Woods PGA Tour mess, deserves a mention. They released a good game, that would constantly freeze, made a lot of courses we had previously be DLC, and the wind would have no effect. They patched it and gave everyone in game coins, but with that patch we got clubs being reset repeatedly, disappearing putters, and still had to pay to get those courses. Honestly after I got done with the first year, I stopped playing.

It was still rushed. The number of times the whole game was essentially dropped and restarted from scratch is a joke. I think it just depends on the reasons for the delay. Some over-delayed games do come out great (TF2, Prey, HL2), plenty of others have been complete busts (Tabula Rasa, Spore, Too Human). If the delay is for bug fixingand fine tuning, it usually makes a game better. If it's to try to keep up with ever-improving technology like Duke Nukem or Daikatana, then it probably won't be. If it's due to creative differences, it's usually a mixed bag (Spore, Team Fortress 2). But even those aren't set in stone. Miyamoto was probably thinking of the first when he said it, because Nintendo tends to polish their games extensively before release. So it carries a nugget of truth compared to other games that are delayed for other reasons.

I dunno man, Black Flag's a pretty awesome game, I can't hate them for that. Probably the best AC game since the second one.

They also got Splinter Cell Blacklist out the door which may be my game of the year.

I have a better one. Did Konami release anything this year that doesn't have Pro Evolution Soccer on its name?

I'd rather wait for South Park than have an unfinished game (KOTOR2) KOTOR2 is one of my favorite games ever, but I never knew it was considered unfinished. What's wrong with it? I'm not being a smartass, I'm genuinely curious.

I have a better one. Did Konami release anything this year that doesn't have Pro Evolution Soccer on its name? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Gear_Rising:_RevengeanceNo way Konami gets it. Microsoft's mistakes read as the horrible game company award version of Oscar Gold, so they're the safe choice. EA is also (as always) one of the horses in the running. My darkhorse for this year would be Creative Assembly. Released what was basically an unfinished game (Total War 2), had the nerve to charge for DLC that puts blood into the game, and talked about their ruthless, soulless and creatively damaging policy of "Anything that isn't a 90 on Metacritic is a failure". So they might get some consideration. {Spoiler}Spoiler RULES OF NATURE!

Rayman legends came out this year and so far my number 2 game of the year after pikmin 3 A truly awesome game that unfortunately didn't sell well at all thanks to non-existent promotion and a release date the week before GTA. Ubisoft then dumped on the game for not selling.

That was interesting. Some things seemed familiar, while others obviously weren't. I played on XBox, not a PC, so was all that meant for all platforms, or just the PC if you know?

They've done an excellent job fixing glitches and balancing things. Offering faction DLCs for absolutely free was another nice touch.

I dunno, I think EA shunning the Wii U was pretty dickish, but Microsoft in general kind of tops everything.

It was meant for all platforms. The cut job wasn't even that clean, as some bits has parts tied into it that are still present in the game (probably why they seem familiar to you). All in all there's about 10 hours worth of gameplay in the cut content, based on the PC mods that restored it.
