Seriously, why haven't they put Justin Gabriel or whoever in eyeliner and told him to be a gothy artist who bumps like Ricky Morton? It'd be a transparently blatant second-rate imitation, but the real Jeff Hardy brought in a crapton of merch sales and the like, and a second-rate version is better than nothing for those currently untapped demographics. Hell, it's not like Jeff's ever coming back, or in a state to ever be trusted with a top spot again, so they don't have to worry about pissing him off and/or diluting his appeal.

I think the idea is you can't duplicate someone who was that over. Jeff Hardy was that over.
Even if they did, the person would just run right into WWE's usual problems when it comes to pushing talent.

Because new Diesel and new Razor Ramon probably taught them that it's a terrible idea. I don't want Gabriel to go the path of Renegade.

Isn't Seth Rollins a better alternative for a "new" Hardy than Gabriel?

They're totally wasting Gabriel. He's so easy to market from a look perspective, wrestling perspective, and ladies/Slater perspective.

I am not fully convinced that he will never be back. Given just how over he was, vince might yet be willing to give him yet another chance. Just look at the ultimate warrior.
Hasnt hardy cleaned himself up now since the whole sting match debacle? Personally i still think the fact he was not fired for that reflects badly on TNA. Most unprofessional thing i have ever seen in a wrestling ring personal deamons or not. But back on topic, if he has genuinely put that behind him wwe could easily whip up a 'he beat his deamons' gimmick similar to eddie guerrero in the build up to wm20 v kurt angle.

Isn't Seth Rollins a better alternative for a "new" Hardy than Gabriel? Seth does seem like a more natural fit but he's doing fine as he is and will probably find his own character to portray in time, Gabriel is kinda just floating around doing nothing when he's talented enough to at least be used for something.

WWE wastes talent all the time. Gabriel should be in a high flying tag team right now.

Because Jeff Hardy got over without the company being 100% behind him and left more than once to do his own thing elsewhere and made money doing so. They'd much rather manufacture the next Randy Orton because he's never going to leave, ever, because he's not a particularly good actor or promo guy and he's not popular enough to be able to make anything like as much money without the WWE.

What happened in that match? Sting/Hardy was the main event of a TNA PPV and Hardy shows up clearly out of it, most of the match is Hardy hiding from Sting until Sting grabs him, hits his finisher and shoot pins Jeff. The PPV closes with the audience chanting "Bullshit" with Sting chanting along with them. It was certainly a notable moment for TNA and Jeff but damn did it make me think Sting was awesome.

Yeah Jeff Hardy was pretty incredible at getting himself over. The guy has a weird charisma and I think in the past 7 or 8 years he's the only guy that has every truly rivalled Cena as the most popular babyface. If he didn't have as many personal problems and the WWE could have properly trusted him I think he'd have been even bigger. It's a shame he's in TNA. A john Cena vs Jeff Hardy feud would have been huge.

Because they'd still likely have him back, if he has his head on straight.
Plus Jeff's a pretty...unique guy.

I thought Gabriel would be a roster mainstay by now, with a couple IC/US Title wins to his credit.
Wouldn't be surprised if they tried to push Corey Graves that way, even though he's been labeled a poor man's CM Punk by some in the past.

I'm actually surprised they haven't "gothed up" Gabriel to try and capitalise on the Twilight fangirls. They seemed to be "trying" somewhat when they called him the Capetown Werewolf. But really, Gabriel is a dropped ball.

"popular but no crossover appeal at all so they won't leave and make us put in effort to replace them". they had TWO guys that happened with (The Rock, Brock Lesnar) and they decide making new stars is too much work.

Also, no way Hardy ends his career wasting away in TNA. If he is open to a return, WWE would take him back in a heartbeat, I promise you.
