I had some free time over the last few days so I binged watched this series from the start to its latest episode and one very burning question had lingered in my mind the entire time: "Why didn't I do this sooner?"
In fact I dare say that Steven Universe ranks up there as one of the greatest Cartoon Network series' of all time.
It's funny, but it's action packed, but it's also mature as it tackles serious emotional issues that I never would have expected to see brought up on the wacky Action/Comedy driven modern CN lineup, the characters are relatable and likable, and the original music is some of the best I've heard on any series. (Stronger Than You and Do It For Her are for me the two best audio standouts.)
So yeah it took a couple of years but I'm fully on board with Team Universe now.

Doug and Rob Walker have started a few vlogs on Steven Universe. Here's the one for Gem Glow.
Glad they realized the error with the DVD, can't wait to see more they do in order. I have a feeling Doug will be really into Steven once they get to the later episodes.

Matt from Two Best Friends Play recently marathoned the first season with his fiancee. Hopefully between that and Doug, it'll just get more eyes on the series.

I'm just glad I started watching before there were too many episodes. I honestly had no frame of reference when I started watching except the "Do it for him" video, but once I got about 5 episodes in I resigned mysely to the fact that I'd have to watch it all the way through.

Makes sense they would get around to reviewing Steven Universe, I mean the Walker Bros already like shows such as Adventure Time, Gravity Falls and Avatar and SU has elements of all three. And now for something else related to the topic at hand: Here's an awesome mash up of "Stronger Than You and Just The Two of Us" I found. picosong.com/2pTJ/

Well, that summed up July 13th really well for me! I'm hardcore I'll take em both. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who wishes to have a future episode in which Mayor Dewey meets his political rival voiced by Trace Beaulieu along with his slovenly assistant voiced by Frank Conniff.

I could see Kevin Murphy playing a fun voice. They did already have Amethyst make a reference in the Mayor Dewey-centric episode that Pearl had gotten lonely and had made a robot friend, when in reality she was trying to make an EMP machine. Or well, did make one, it just didn't work on the marble.

Well, that summed up July 13th really well for me! July 13th is the new Monday Night Wars. Steven: Don't change that channel fans. Over on the other channel Alex Hirsch who used to work here on Flapjack is going to tell everyone Grunkle Stan's full back story. Yeah that'll put butts in the seats. Amethyst: Steven? Who are ya talking too? Pearl: And what's a "Grunkle"? Oh no! Is that anything like that weird Uncle Grandpa person. Garnet: Stop! We promised to never talk about that ever again.

Some episode titles and two episode descriptions have been released on Zap2It! Time for speculations!
Cry For Help - Steven's favorite TV show is interrupted by a magical interference. KeyStone Motel Onion Friend - Steven and Amethyst explore Onion's house. Historical Friction Friend Ship
Cry For Help sounds like it could be about Lapis, but with what we now know about what happened to the other Crystal Gems who knows? Onion Friend should be interesting, we haven't seen him in a while. Historical Friction might be a flashback episode about the Gem War. We're bound to see more of that at some point.

Speaking of one of SU's crowning moments of awesomeness (And my official Summer Jam of 2015.) According to Ian Jones-Quartey: Stronger Than You originally had a Rap bridge by Peridot which is why her line "Don't Touch That..." sounded like it was part of the song. You can listen to that here ianjq.tumblr.com/post/113632365739/magicgirlkyubey-yes-i-absolutely-did-lyrics-are I guess they cut it out for time constraints, ah well still kick grand amounts of ass.

Cry for Help could intro Sardonyx as well
We're forgetting this is apparently "Week of Sardonyx", and it makes me wonder if we're getting Sardonyx here, hence why some episodes don't have descriptions, they could very well feature this new Gem in a prominent role and would be too spoilery to release. I have to think Onion Friend has one because it's gonna be the most stand alone episode of the week.

That is not the original rap bridge that was cut, that is a fan made rap of what it could have been
Can be heard here:
Looks like Ian just really liked it.

It's really cute, and it'd be fun if we did get a Peridot song eventually.
A bit of an obvious sort of question, but who is your favorite Gem, folks? Homeworld and Crystal, each, if you want to make it easier, in which case, Lapis and Pearl, respectively, but I have liked every Gem we've had so far as characters.
Also, favorite non-Garnet and Stevonnie fusion, since those would probably win too easily? I'd go with Opal, but again, I've liked all of the ones we've had so far. Rainbow Quartz took a sec to grow on me, but I quite like it.

I love almost the entire cast, but I really love Pearl. I love her relationship with Steven as she's really his mom which makes her relation to Rose more interesting. It's also fun how she has her zany moments like telling Amethyst she can't be a moat crocodile because she never commits! Then there was her running off like a cat when Steven caught her watching him.
