It'd be cool if it simply took off and flew into space, leaving onlookers bemused when they say "holy shit, the Astrodome was a spaceship?" I would love this on one condition, Lex Luthor has to pilot it while the Legion of Doom is inside

Another one bites the dust I hate seeing these old stadiums get demolished. I'm gonna cry when they blow up Candlestick There are a number of old stadiums that still stand. A handful of baseball teams still play in stadiums that are over 100 years old. Additionally, some old NFL homes are either used by colleges (or even high schools in the case of 5 former NFL stadiums), used as a multipurpose arena (think RFK Stadium), or as the host of Bowl games (like the Cotton Bowl and Alamodome).

The Alamodome broke ground in 1990....how is that old? It is not, but I could only think of a couple stadiums that host bowl games and that was one of them. The Liberty Bowl Stadium would have been a much better example but I could not remember it at the time. I also forgot that the Packers used to play at the Wisconsin State Fair Grounds, which would have been another interesting one to list.

None of the dome stadiums built post 1965 seemed to have a long lifespan.

Considering that it was built for getting an NFL team, and it's only tenants were the Spurs for a couple of years, a CFL franchise, the Saints for 3 games, and currently UTSA football... it probably feels old. Just about everything that was cool about that city is vanishing, and they didn't even get a space shuttle. Thats another extremely sore subject. I bet, for sure. How can some place in Ohio get it and not Space City?

Ohio at least has Patterson Air base and is home to alot of astronauts and is centrally located to a good portion of the US population. Home of Wright brothers, Neil Armstrong etc. Ohio would not have stung as bad. NYC on the ohter hand.... Add that they gave Houston a plywood fake one, and took some of the training systems from Houston for Chicago. And people from those areas mocking Houston that they have a shuttle as it is spread across east Texas.

As a wrestling fan it saddens me to see the stadiums demolished. Toronto CNE Stadium is gone, Milwaukee County Stadium is gone and Hoosier Dome is gone. Those are just a few I remember from wrestling events. Just as bad, IMO, is Skydome becoming "Rogers Centre" named after a company. Ugh, I can't stand that!

Looking back, I'm REALLY glad I got to attend Wrestlemania X-7 (which I'm sure ranks as a fairly decent WM). The show was alright, but being in that venue, the very same venue that was considered ahead of its time in the '60s, is something I'll always cherish. Although I never got to see an Astros game in there, I'm happy I got to see some kind of event. I was also at WM 17. What row were you? I was 10th row.

My sign came on TV during the HHH/Taker match when they were fighting at the camera well and Taker chokeslammed HHH onto the platform. I held up a sign that said, "Vince Should Buy Texas". This was right after he bought WCW.
