Back in 96 what was everyone's thoughts on the game? If my brother never brought the game for his PS I might not became a fan of the series. People make fun of the voice acting and how bad the live action stuff was but back then I didn't give it a thought.

Oh the voice acting couldn't be worse lol. These days I consider it a charming quality though. There's a difference between bad and BAD. I can handle BAD. Especially from that time period.
I remember a friend and I driving around to Blockbusters all over looking for it. Finally tracked it down at one all the way across town. Loved the game then. I never took to it as an all time favorite the way I have Resident Evil 2, but it's a really good Survival Horror game. It isn't scary compared to a Silent Hill 2, but for the time it had a real creep factor. Some nice unnerving sounds and music.

"NO, DON'T GO!" "What a mansion!" *Dogs make public domain dinosaur noises* Man, I thought it sucked, but I really love that terrible voicework. And obviously the game was great. It's weird that the best version of it is on the DS. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}JILL SANDWICH!

Great at the time but I don't think it has aged well. REmake addressed a lot of the issues.

I remember going to Toys R Us and getting the Director's Cut on my birthday when it first came out. I got home around the evening, my parents went out for a while so I was by myself. Put the game in, turned off the lights, and was immediately hooked into the creepy atmosphere. Yes, even the now incredibly cheesy, but charming, live-action intro scared me a bit at the time. As cliche as it's become (though rightfully memorable), I remember jumping and dropping the control when the dogs first burst through the windows.
It hasn't aged well from a technical standpoint, but it still has that certain strange charm to it. The REmake is amazing though, and is vastly superior in almost every way.

I loved it back in the day. It's dated as hell now, but sometimes I might still pop it in, even though the GameCube remake is far superior.
WHAT??? What is this...?
Blood. Hope this is not Chris's blood!

I was blown away by it. I had never played anything like it. The atmosphere, tension, jump-scares (Damn dogs!) and general creepiness were all awesome. You never knew what to expect around the next corner, and I miss that today. The, by today's standard, clunky controls never bothered me. I think it added to the feeling of being alone, outnumbered and generally in a hopeless situation. It was also that fun B-movie factor. The game didn't take it itself too serious, unlike todays Resident Evils.
