Should the 18-second match at WrestleMania 28 have lead to a double-turn for Sheamus & Daniel Bryan?

In hindsight, no. Mostly because of what's happened since, but it wouldn't have been impossible. Bryan, humbled by his loss and the sudden fan support, commits himself to putting his ego aside, regaining his gold and becoming a better boyfriend for AJ... Sheamus, on the other hand, buys into his own hype and simply becomes a full-on bully douchebag... except it's treated as bad by commentary as opposed to "LOL Sheamus" when he did this kind of thing as a face.

Why? Because that smug son of a bitch Daniel Bryan finally got what he had coming to him?
People seem to forget that Daniel Bryan was a gigantic asshole during this time period and the 18 second finish made sense given his character. (Yes his character, no need to give me a lecture about WrestleMania and paying and World Title matches).

No, because I feel that there was a lot of people that wanted to cheer Daniel Bryan as a heel, and turning them so soon would have killed a lot of the appeal. Instead, the slowburn approach to getting Daniel Bryan from heel to face worked so much better than a double turn could ever have, and we would have missed out on his tag team with Kane to boot.
Sheamus, on the other hand, probably could have benefited better from getting to be a heel again, but just as Team Hell No was beneficial for Daniel Bryan, that never ending feud with Del Rio really stung as well. A quick double turn would at least saved us from that.

Yes, because face Sheamus is unbearable.

Considering that's sorta what happened anyway, it wouldn't have hurt to have actually listened to the fans and made it official. Perhaps, on one end, it would've meant missing out on Team Hell No (then again, there's probably a way they could've still made it happen), but that's about all we'd be missing out on. No intolerable face Sheamus, we build up a new star overnight and as a bonus, the fans actually get listened to for a change!

No. It was the birth of Dick Self Aware Sheamus and Yes Bryan, that was perfect as it was. Also it was hilarious.
Though I do understand how Bryan fans can have felt ripped off if they paid for the pay per view just for that match and got, well, that. Personally the laugh I got from that was well worth the asking price, but I can understand why people would have felt ripped off.

My bias towards DB aside, it was a hilarious way for the cocky, smug jerkass champion to get his comeuppance on the biggest stage possible.

They could have done it. It probably wouldn't have worked out as well as what actually happened though. Bryan's progress from here was much more organic.
Bryan could have cleanly turned and been a face, yes. People would have liked it and cheered him and he probably would have been fine.
I don't think he would be as over right now though.
