Can't believe it's been 22 years since he died. Guy had more talent in his index finger then One Direction have in their whole bodies. Depressing.

Does every appreciation thread of a older band or artist always have to some kind of lame insult of a current pop artist who isn't part of the same genre of said artist? Like people love to forget or pretend shitty corporate pop has existed since the beginning of time and those artists for a while were bigger then The Rolling Stones, The Doors, AC/DC, etc.
Like don't get me wrong I don't like One Direction but the vocal anti fans seem to talk about that band more then the actual fans.

Nobody else rode Darth Vader like he did. Don't forget Superman and Santa Claus. I miss Freddie too. Queen is my all-time favorite band.

I intend to spend the anniversary of his death in a couple of weeks listening to Queen (and none of that stuff masquerading as Queen after his death).

Even though I don't listen to Queen, I have this weird connection with Freddie because he died November 24, 1991 and I was born November 25, 1991.

I can still go back and listen to "Night At The Opera", "Day At The Races", "Queen", or "Sheer Heart Attack" just about any time... especially "Night At The Operas". I don't care how cliche it is to say, but in an era of f***ing phenomenal hard rock singers (Plant, Ozzy, Lynott, Steve Tyler just to name a few), he sits high above as the best.

Sheer Heart Attack is my favorite Queen album, it's just an amazing cocktail of all of their past, present (at that time), and even future sounds in a single album. I do wish they could have completed the song of the same name in time to put it on the album, adding a punk element to an already diverse album would have been perfect.

Greatest lead singer ever. You've had so many singers throughout history who sound completely different live as opposed to studio, Freddie sounded the same.
And this wasn't a Queen audience, it was a general audience.

He took one for both teams from a disease no one knew existed.
He didn't leave a mark on history, he French kissed it.

And this wasn't a Queen audience, it was a general audience. This might be my favorite single concert performance ever. To be able to go out there and hold 80,000 people in the palm of your hand, no smoke and lasers, no pyro, no gimmicks, just pure performance, is unfathomable. But he did it. Also, I'll leave this here. Proof that the voice is an instrument.

Also, I'll leave this here. Proof that the voice is an instrument. This still blows my mind. I only wish they could have left in Freddie's "Let me out!" too. I do wonder what Queen and/or Freddie would be doing if he was still alive. I know Freddie once said he didn't want to be prancing around on stage in his 50s, so my guess is they would have still been making music, but not performing live anymore, much like what they did during his last few years. But I suppose we'll never truly know.
