Over the last 30 games, the Cubs are 17-13, which is the best record in the NL over that span. That probably says more about the general suckitude of the NL than it does about the Cubs.

Hard to believe that the Cincinnati Reds were up 8-0 on the Toronto Blue Jays, but they were. They ended up blowing that lead and losing 14-9.

Astros prospect RHP Mark Appel turned in another shaky outing on Sunday, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits in five innings for High-A Lancaster.
Appel, 22, has pitched to a 16.39 ERA, allowed 22 hits (five home runs) and struck out only seven batters in 9 1/3 innings spanning three starts.
