But in that one time, you got an awesome experience out of it? That happened to me yesterday. My school was having its homecoming, and Lifehouse`s You And Me came on, a Slow Dance song. I didn't bring a date with me, never been on one, so I was wandering, and then all of a sudden, this girl in 12th Grade (I'm in 11th Grade) came up to me, never uttered one word to her in my life, and she says: "You wanna dance?" First Slow Dance for me. One of the most surreal things that has ever happened to me.
I'm sure a lot of you have had something like that happen before. Maybe nothing romantic, but maybe you run into a stranger and end up having a hilarious conversation like your best friends, but you never have seen him or her again to this point.
Anybody else have a story like that?

One year on a trip back to my hometown after an archaeology training course several years ago, I was taking the train, sitting in a passenger coach, playing GBA, another guy reading a book, then a third man enters and sits down with us. We say nothing for a while, then someone (I think the third guy) starts a conversation, and before we knew it we were all exchanging our life stories. I remember he told us that he was a football fan (European football) and touring France to see every Ligue 1 championship match and took the opportunity to visit the towns where the matches were taking place and see places he'd never gone to before. The weirdest part is that we were of very different age and background, me the 16-years-old high school kid, a 30-something man of undecipherable origin (presumably Turkish but I don't know for sure) and that football fan who seemed to be in his late 40s and looked very working-class.
We had very interesting and very fun conversations, talking all the way to our respective station (mine was last), I can tell you I am very glad it happened as it was way better than if we'd just stayed in our little world. I think one of the funniest moments was when the possibly Turkish guy had to go use the bathroom and when he came back, he suddenly yelled "DO I LIKE A JUNKIE THAT BAD?!" and explained to us that as soon as he left the toilet, some guy made a gesture that obviously suggested he wanted to sell him cocaine. I actually kind of wonder what they're up to these days, and I wonder if they wonder the same about me.

I tend to have experiences like this all the time with strangers, but one in particular stands above the rest.
I met this really cute blonde at a karaoke bar one night and we just clicked instantly. We talked for only 20 minutes, but I truly feel I missed out on the love of my life. We were both trying to fight off our friends from clock blocking each other and ultimately failed. Right before my friends finally dragged me away from her we shared one of the most intimate hugs I've ever had.
As I was literally being pulled from her by my friends to leave we were holding hands not wanting to let go, she got closer kissed me on the cheek and said to me if she didn't have a boyfriend she would leave with me then and there. I asked for her number, but she declined and that was that.
I still often think of what might have been if we exchanged numbers.

I ditched most of my sister's high school graduation to hang out with the coolest girl I've ever met in the parking lot of a church...

I went to the midnight release of Modern Warfare 3, and the guy next to me in line looked like a cross between Kurt Cobain and Jesus. For an hour in line, we talked about everything. Life, school, girls, games, a bunch of stuff. As we got our games, we waved goodbye, and that was it. We never saw each other again.
This other time, my friends and I went to Millenium Park. We walk in the bathroom, and-I swear to god, this really happened- there's a dude dry humping the air dryer. He's got this creepy ass smile on his face, and just looks at us and goes "Hey, how's yo mama doin?" And continues to laugh his ass of while f***ing the air dryer. That was...interesting.

On the train back home once late-ish at night, got chatting with this girl because we were, like, the only people in the carriage. It was one of the funniest and most interesting conversations I've ever had, and then she had to get off like, two stops before me. Never saw her again, didn't know her name.
One of those moments where you have to wonder about all the "what ifs". What if we'd exchanged numbers? We could've been great friends, we could have dated for a while, we could've decided we weren't as compatible as we first thought and at least put it to rest. Just one of those things I guess.
