Best thing they can do is make this a slowburn and not just hotshot the dude. The company needs to do what they did with Batista, not repeat with Orton. Make the fans beg for more before finally pulling the trigger and making Reigns go solo.

I don't know about him being the next Rock or Batista. If they're smart, keep him quiet and make him the REAL next Goldberg. That spear looks devastating as f*** and he looks like he can legit steamroll people just like Goldberg used to.

Make the fans beg for more before finally pulling the trigger and making Reigns go solo. I think they understand this, and are going to follow through with it. As for Reigns. He obviously has the in ring charisma, not sure about working longer solo matches as i haven't seen any. Has not impressed me at all on the mic. His soft spoken, "speak through action" style doesn't do it for me, but he can grow in that. Him being amazing tonight was part him, but mostly booking. Almost anyone on the roster can look great if allowed to destroy an entire team of faces. He did make the most of it though.

I didn't watch last year's Survivor Series, so all I saw of the Shield's first appearance was all the marking on here, pretty much exclusively over Ambrose and Rollins, with comments on Reigns ranging from "yeah, okay, a third guy is nice" to "it should be Kassius Ohno" and the general consensus being that he was going to be the nonentity third wheel of the group. Come RAW the next night and their first promo, and it was so, SO obvious already that Roman was the one pegged as this future megastar, and the indie duo were just there to help build him up and make him look good. Looks like things are going as planned. Developmentals rule, indies drool!

Reigns is far from the finished product. Cutting him from The Shield now would be a disaster, he has the look and a killer spear but lacks any mic skills. You could give him a manager in the short-term, but I don't think 'monster' gimmicks have great shelf-life, especially in the modern era. Batista had great charisma on the mic and in the ring, the power set and the looks. Roman can still gain a lot from being in The Shield but they'd be foolish to pull the trigger too soon.

Looks like things are going as planned. I'm fairly sure that it WASN'T obvious back then. In hindsight anyone can say he was 'clearly the guy they wanted to push' but back then everyone was raving about Ambrose and Rollins still. It took a few more appearances for people to get on the Reigns bandwagon. I'm still fairly sure that all three members are going to get a big push. Reigns as the top face, Ambrose as the top heel, and Rollins as a Jericho/Hardy type who floats around the main event and mid-card.

I really hope they don't have him win the U.S Title off Ambrose. I feel he's above that title at this point & he really doesn't need it. Either Ambrose should lose the title due to Reigns or they have a non-title match, because I certainly don't want to see Reigns holding that title.
If anything, maybe he should win the Rumble & face Undisputed Champion, Randy Orton, at Wrestlemania.

I think he's great, he's got everything you could want, he's been good in the ring, has a great look and he just comes across as a cool badass guy. The fact he's cousins with The Rock and from that family is just a bonus I'm sure for the WWE.
I just can't shake the belief than the WWE will somehow mess this up like always, I think they've forgotten how to make new main event stars.

Use the Rumble to do the turn. Maybe have Reigns eliminate the most guys. Then when it gets down to a handful of guys, have Rollins & Ambrose eliminate Reigns because he'd be the biggest threat size-wise. Reigns goes bat-crap crazy, jumps back into the ring and beats the crap out of the two of them - everyone would stand back because they want nothing to do with this guy. Rollins can get eliminated in the scrum by a super-throw over the top (as only he can do, maybe crash through the ringside table), Ambrose eliminates himself just to get away from the awakened giant.
I can see him winning the US Title, maybe at WM if they hold off long enough.

He was never intended for the slot he ended up with (at least that early), but fans were very vocal. WWE needs to slow burn Reigns and let the people get behind him organically and not force it. You want a new Batista, not a new Diesel.

Such a beast. Last night was really one of those moments WWE will highlight in packages in years to come.

The guy has really brought it in the year he's been on the main roster, so I hope he gets treated right.

While I do agree with this, we are talking about the WWE here so I suspect that they do the opposite of what common sense dictates.

Reigns is a GOD. I'm worried that they are gonna turn him face and he's just gonna get lost in the shuffle. There is a log jam of Cena/Bryan/Punk at the top of the baby face chain. Right now the only heel that can legitimately main event a PPV is Orton. ADR isn't there, Mark Henry is injured. It is WIDE OPEN for Reigns to become an EVIL MONSTER and have some memorable feuds with Bryan, Cena, and Punker. I wish they'd keep The Shield together for another 6 months though, I'm worried they are gonna bust them up too soon and we will be wishing they stayed together a bit longer to keep delivering these phenomenal tags.
Rollins should be a face, he just gets so much sympathy with the way he bumps, even if he is great at being a sneaky little shit it'll be hard to keep the crowd from getting behind him with the way he treats his body like it's someone else's.

If there were any doubt that Reigns wasn't gonna be a huge star in the future, that performance last night pretty much sealed it.

I hope they get him going in some 1 on 1 matches. I want to see if he can pull it off, he's always been in tags and been the guy who obliterates people with a spear and looks like a beast, without really carrying the match. I can't think of a singles match he's had that wasn't against Daniel Bryan. He looked great tonight, definitely intriguing. But, I need to see more out of him. Here is is in FCW having a solid match. Sure, it's against Kruger who can have a solid match with Abe Washington but it's a good match. The guy can work to an acceptable level. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mpNIADJv14

Reigns has THE best spear ever. It looks more devasting than Goldberg's or anyone's. He will murder anyone with that and win any singles title he wants.

I hate those people who go into appreciation threads only to dis the subject, and so I'm not trying to do that. But, my reaction to the dude is SO different to other people's here, it's actually making me curious about what the difference is.
I am so bored by the dude, and I hated the match last night. I watch him wrestle, and the only thing that's entertaining to me is the selling his opponents do. He just... does moves, and his own selling is actually pretty terrible. I dunno, I feel like I'm looking at it weird. Part of it is intensified by the situation: I am massively more entertained by Ambrose and to a lesser extent Rollins, and so it's annoying for me to watch them shoot Reigns to the moon at the other guys' expense (and anyone who thinks they'll be anything once the Shield breaks up is kidding themselves; they're screwed).
Is it really just as simple as, he's big and tough and it's easy to imagine that he's actually hitting people hard? If so, what is entertaining about that? Or maybe a better question is: How can you watch that and credit it to him instead of to the fact that he's being booked that way?

Looks like things are going as planned. I can't speak for everybody, but at the time I felt that Reigns was a good choice in terms of style, but he needed some work in the ring. I felt putting him with guys like Ambrose and Rollins though would help him and it has. It's allowed him to show off power moves that are getting him over. And I liked Ohno, but he wouldn't have fit into the group. I do think though that eventually Rollins is gonna be the one that doesn't get to that next level... at least not right away.

I know it's more likely for him to spear Ambrose but I want Reigns to spear the shit out of Rollins.
