There's actually footage on youtube of the car burning before emergency personal were even aware of what happened. The footage is from about a minute or two after the crash and from just across the street. You can see a guy approaching the burning car but one of the tires explodes and I think scares people off.
The car was split in half and as said the fuel tank would have been right behind the front seats. The middle section and the space between the split ends had already burst into flames. There were no screams so they were either dead from the impact or unconscious. I doubt they died of smoke inhalation though as the fire took off almost immediately.

I heard part of that in other articles but didn't hear about the son of the driver and Walkers best friend trying to free them from the burning wreckage. If that's true then...

It's just too sad and traumatic to think that they burned to death while unconscious. It's just too much to think that. To be defenseless in that way, while being burned to death....it's scary to even think about.
I watched The Fast and the Furious last night, part of me enjoyed it (part of not seeing that film from the franchise in so long), the other half of me was trying to wrap my head around the loss. It was especially hard to watch when one or two of the cars caught on fire, during/after the chase scenes for whatever reason.
I concur with how you continue the franchise. Expand Hobbs and make him the main antagonist tag team with Dom. Hell, have him leave the DSS to join the group officially, as a tribute in real life and in story to what O'Connor did with LAPD. Show O'Connor and Mia in dream like sequences at the beginning of the movie driving into the sun set, retiring officially being happy with their baby and enjoying their life together. I didn't even know Kurt Russell was cast in the movie before looking at wiki!, so maybe we could have him as a new member of the group also. Having the 3 main protagonists in the franchise going forward being: Toretto, Hobbs and Kurt Russells character. With the rest of the group

Having the 3 main protagonists in the franchise going forward being: Toretto, Hobbs and Kurt Russell's character with the rest of the group. Now that would be one notable callback. Still, that does require a major re-write, so maybe Universal can delay the movie a bit to a fall release. Again, Universal is sort of one of those studios that rarely has bad publicity since most of their films are harmless to the media.

I heard the lead guy from Tokyo Drift is in it so he'll probably fill O'Conner's role. I didn't care for that guy so hope I'm wrong.

So, CNN Trends picks up a bit of unintentional "too soon"-ness. For those that might not know, "Catching Fire" is the name of the new Hunger Games movie.

So this is a car that Porsche knows is unsafe and still lets it be sold. There's a lawsuit coming, for sure.

I can only hope to god that he was unconscious when he was burned alive. Further reports state he most likely died "in seconds" so chances are he didn't suffer too much. Still, it's depressing that he survived the impact but was unable to free himself from the wreck before the fire took hold. Just reading about his generosity and charitable activities, as well as willingness to do so without claiming the easy publicity that would normally go with it, makes me sad that such a genuinely good guy died such an awful, pointless death.

So this is a car that Porsche knows is unsafe and still lets it be sold. There's a lawsuit coming, for sure. Unlikely. Most sports cars are extremely dangerous and from all accounts, the driver here wasn't following the rules of the road and crashed. What I'm more astonished of, is why any company would make a car that can go 200 mph. Unless you're an officer of the law, there's no reason anyone should ever exceed 100 mph.

Fair enough, and yeah that is a bit strange. They do say it's basically a race car, but giving people that much speed is always a bad idea. Also, it seems that they're now going to donate proceeds from Fast 6 sales to Reach Out Worldwide. Pretty classy move, I'd say.

There's no reason at all, other than demand. Speed is ultimately one of the major draws of high-performance cars. Would any of them carry such high price tags and be seen as such status symbols if they topped at 100mph?

Don't know if this is old news or not but just saw a commercial for it and they are donating a portion of the proceeds from every DVD/blu ray purchase of Fast and Furious 6, which comes out next week, to a charity Paul Walker had set up before he died.
