I wonder how many people are going to be upset about this considering the promoter who did the same thing with Volkoff and Fulton was chastised for doing the exact same thing.

That probably would have never become as big an issue as it did had the promoter not acted like an asshole to the initial backlash.

I think SOR has a point, but I do think that this was the bigger issue, the promoter's hubris about all of it.

It used to be the big trend in independent wrestling was to call yourself the "______ Wrestling Federation" to capitalize on the popularity of the WWF. Then to call yourself "_______ Championship Wrestling" to piggy back off of whatever success WCW had. Then indy promotions started calling themselves "Extreme" this or "Hardcore" to capitalize on ECW's cult status. And now the latest trend in independent wrestling: wrestling matches without the ring!
