One of my personal heroes. Re-reading some of his books right now. Brilliant, witty, insightful and the man did so much to share his knowledge of and sense of wonder about the universe.
Carl Sagan:appreciate him.

I've only discovered him in the past few years, but he truly is an amazing man, who boosted public perception of science to an incredible degree. And without Carl Sagan, we wouldn't have the likes of Brian Cox or Neil DeGrasse Tyson to spread that love of science to a new generation, either. Watching Cosmos just blew me away. His turn of phrase and beautiful rhythm of speech brings the universe to life and shows us the wonder of even the simplest things. Makes me think of the line from Contact "They should have sent a poet", because he really was one.

He is one of my idols as well. A genuine person who had a vast knowledge of the marvelous universe as well as the speeches he would make about it. One of the great thinkers in philosophy and science of the modern era.

Loved The Demon Haunted World and Contact. Cosmos is just brilliant.
I can't wait to see Neil DeGrasse Tyson's Cosmos. I trust it will do the original justice.

Carl Sagan was the man. Cosmos was a great show, and Contact was a great novel. Plus this:
