CBS has handed a script commitment plus penalty to a reinvention of “The Odd Couple” from Matthew Perry, Variety has confirmed.
Based on Neil Simon’s “The Odd Couple,” project centers on two mismatched roommates, messy Oscar Madison and neat freak Felix Ungar. Perry is slated to star as Madison.
Along with toplining the comedy, Perry will serve as producer and co-write the laffer with Danny Jacobson. CBS TV Studios is attached to the reboot along with Timberman-Beverly and The Tannenbaum Co.
I'm hoping it works out for him, personally. I really liked Go On and was disappointed to see it go. That said, given Perry's luck with TV shows (and how badly the original remake in '92 was recieved), I don't know...
