Marty McFly is a tragic hero. When he returns to the future, he begins to live a life he's never had. The memories of his former life, exist only to him, and they're all lies. He returns to a family he doesn't really know. A family he has no shared history with. His loser brother, spinster in-waiting sister, weak willed father, and bitter mother are all gone. Replaced by perfected dopplegangers. He's a stranger in his own home. He's living the life of some other Marty McFly.
And what about the other Marty, the one this new and improved McFlys knew? Did he cease to exist? There had to have been a Marty that grew up in this happier household. A Marty whom had lived this better life, had the memories of that life, now gone, replaced by an imposter.

I would think with the movies internal logic Marty would eventually start to act like and remember his life in the new universe. Like how he slowly faded away in the past instead of instantly vanishing once he messed up his parents meeting.

Reminiscing about high school must be awkward for the parents. How would you explain that your youngest child looks exactly like that weird stranger who appeared in your town for a few weeks and then disappeared, never to be seen again?

That weird stranger who appeared in your town for a few weeks and then disappeared......thirty years ago? That's the Back to the Future "plothole" I never buy.

It's not like wives never cheat on their husbands with old boyfriends. If you were George McFly, wouldn't you wonder if your wife went behind your back if that mysterious drifter your wife had a fling with in high school happened to come into town again 12 or so years ago?

Honestly, despite being a relatively big part of their life (being the one that hooked them up) he was in their life for a week. They probably don't remember what he looked like 30 years later. The Average mind is not all that great at remembering specific details about people either, the Back to the Future game by Telltale actually pointed something like this out.... {Spoiler} When Doc Brown comes back to the past after you help the younger him with his science experiment, he says something like "thats the human mind for you... I remember you being much taller."

True, if they relied solely on memory, they probably would forget details. But he also played in front of the big school dance, so there are probably a few yearbook pictures of him at least. And if you were presented with the direct spitting image of the guy later on, it'd probably at least jog your memory a little, or make you question things at least.

Apropos of nothing, but Michael J. Fox looks pretty similar to what he did 30 years ago, himself.

George was too shit scared of getting another visit from Darth Vader from the planet Vulcan to ask any questions about Marty 1985's similarity to Marty 1955

Fixed. I don't type very well on my phone. Aww, it was so much fun messing with you. Damn. On topic, it's really unsettling that a guy who looks 25 is still in high school (this is worse in Teen Wolf but that's beside the point).

Aliens.
Remember George McFly believed he was visited by "Darth Vader" and later goes on to write a book about it (why anyone would take it seriously i don't know). I assume that he put two and two together and realized that "Calvin Klein" was just Darth Vader in human form since they were both try to get him to hook up with Loraine. If he did realize the resemblance between Marty and Calvin he'd probably think there was some kind of alien "visitation" involved.
