I watch die hard every Christmas and actually watched it last night. As much as I love it and do watch it at this time every year I really don't think it can't be counted as a Christmas movie
DiGs description pretty much nailed it
As for me, I think either Scrooged or muppet Christmas carol

Gremlins and Scrooged top the list, also ones set around Christmas like Die Hard and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.
I also think Christmas Vacation deserves a mention, that was awesome.

It's a tie between Elf and Christmas Vacation for me.

I've never been a stickler for how much a film incorporates Christmas into the plot. If it's completely embedded into the atmosphere and tone of the film, it's an Xmas flick by default to me, so I can count stuff like Batman Returns and Die Hard.
With that said, the correct answers are Rise Of The Guardians and Friday After Next.

A Christmas Story, I don't care how many "It's popular, now it sucks" people are out there. Not even the train wreck of the sequel (which you can see reviewed if you search on the Blog of Doom ;-)) could dampen my love for it.

I am kind of tired of the "Die hards a christmas movie" shit. Yeah, sort of but no, not it's not. Christmas with the Kranks is my favorite. Why isn't it? The entire backdrop is set at Christmas, it's not a coincidence. I'd say Die Hard or It's a Wonderful Life for the topic, with Christmas Story and Love Actually right behind.

For actual movies. I'd probably list A Christmas Story, and most traditional versions of A Christmas Carol. As for a Christmas special, to me, nothing beats A Muppet Family Christmas, for quality and nostalgia. I mean, I grew up as a HUGE Muppet fan (still am), and when you combine the Muppets with Sesame Street with Fraggle Rock and even a touch of freaking Muppet Babies in there? You've pretty much wrapped my entire childhood into a 40 minute special. It's one of the few Christmas specials I know that is actually, kinda special to me. This. And it is a time when I really say screw music rights issues, because of them we will never see a proper release of it, which it DESERVES. That and Sesame and the Muppets belonging to different companies and all. People mentioned Muppet XMas Carol...I am iffy myself with post-Henson Muppets.
