How did I miss this?
Why did this forum not collapse when this happened (last year, if Wikipedia is to be believed)??

How did I miss this? Why did this forum not collapse when this happened (last year, if Wikipedia is to be believed)?? It didn't collapse because the company did not collapse. But you will still see many posts where people will talk about how they miss Don West and honestly, I am one of them who misses Don West because Don actually knew how to sell something. And for what TNA allegedly gave him for his good services, I am ashamed of TNA for their lack of respect for the man.

I watched TNA on and off since 2009. I don't ever remember Don West calling any match? He has been looooong gone for a long time now.

I didnt watch a lot of TNA when Don West was involved. I know he was important to the company for a while though. All I can remember about him is him yelling at me on TV very late night to buy swords or baseball cards.

We need him back. Just to further cleanse this place of the hogan/bisch stench.
Yes, he repeated what was said. It didn't bother me. You got a problem with that?

Have a 3 man booth with bored Tenay, doesn't give a f*** Taz, and Don West freaking the hell out about everything.

Heel Don West was great . Loved the hotel bar stuff. There was an awesome exchange between him and Tenay on commentary once. Went something like this. West: "Taylor Wilde is the kind of girl you bring home to meet your parents...then you sneak out the door to go meet Daffney." Tenay: "What about Awesome Kong?" West: "She's at your house."

West actually motivated Tenay to give a crap half the time, so all the more reason why I'd love to have heel Don West back in the booth.

Don West is the reason I watch TNA. Although I knew of it going back to their Fox Sports days, and wrestlers they had, I never watched. While looking to find out what happened to him ( remember Don and Eddie on Shop at Home), I found out he was an announcer in TNA., so I turned in a fcouple of days later, and have been watching ever since, and that was back in '08.
Miss you Don.

West was awesome. I remember when AJ introduced the calf killer and it wasn't really clicking, thinking to myself "If West were here to scream about him ripping off people's legs people would dig this way more."

A lot of TNA's really cool moments were helped by Don West going insane for every one of them, a stark contrast from Taz who really sounds like he couldn't give a rat's ass about 90% of anything that happens.
However, he was over-enthusiastic about everything to the point of self-parody, which made some of those LOLTNA moments even more so glaring. It rubbed off on Mike Tenay way too much, when he needed a straight-man to counter his excitement.
Too bad they didn't stick with West as a heel longer, as it improved the Tenay/West combination a thousand fold, and he would lapse back into Excited West when it mattered.

Don gave TNA a different feel to commentary than the WWE. He had the experience to sell EVERYTHING like it is amazing and great while Teney gave it credibility. I'm sad that TNA doesn't try to be different anymore

Heel Don West was great . Loved the hotel bar stuff. Heel Don got the color they were looking for in the booth. Then what do they do the second it gets over? Hire a guy Vince McMahon didn't want to pay anymore. Don't mistake me Tazz is great on commentary and he and Tenay have chemistry but Don West vs Mike Tenay after the heel turn was solid. It legit seemed as though Tenay hated everything he said nd Don would egg it on. Don West worked his ass off for that company since its first show and deserved better. I am a TNA loyalist but I will not forgive this even a little bit.

Don West was awful. This very board had thread stacked on thread about how horrible he was. Every "Who should TNA get rid of" thread began with Don West. With the passage of time, people only remember the good parts.
In personal news, when I would introduce TNA to people who did watch TNA in 2006 and 2007, the first thing they would always mention is how awful this loud, excited announcer is. It happened about 6 times.
I think he was a nice guy, but he was an atrocious announcer. He was ok when he turned heel, but it wasnt better than Taz, who is not that good to begin with. Sorry.
