The second half of that year > the first half. I liked Dean Douglas and the Bodydonnas until they ruined both. Even liked Rad Radford. Liked the Kid's slow turn on Razor. Liked the Bulldog going heel. Liked Bret coming back into the title scene after feuds with the dentist and the pirate. Liked Goldust in full WTF shock mode before they gave him Marlena and watered him down.
I think things like the Mabel push, an awful WrestleMania, Lawrence Taylor and Diesel's title reign make it easy to forget the good things that were happening.

Dean Douglas silliness aside, a pretty good year for the IC title. Solid matches with Jarrett, Razor, and Shawn made for a decently competitive division, leading to what was probably the best year for the belt for a few good years.

Was there ever a reason as to why Bret was so underutilized in 95?

Mostly I remember 1995 because that was the year the free PPV gravy train ended. My grandma could get them, at full price and it was a f***ing chore back then, it wasn't click "Buy" on the screen. You had to go rent a box from the cable company, put down a deposit, hook the damn thing up and then order it. What I remember most is her having me over to watch Rumble 95, Mania 11 and SummerSlam 1994 at her place and her buying them for me. She wasn't a fan or anything. Yeah, those events suck, but, that's what I remember about them and why they're important to me anyway. You should have gotten one of those black boxes with the red screen Not recalling what you're talking about, at all? What were those?

Was there ever a reason as to why Bret was so underutilized in 95? Funny thing is that none of those guys would have been able to have a credible match against Jean-Pierre LaFitte or Issac Yankem DDS and make them look good. Enter the Hitman, the MVP of 1995. That title win at the end was well-earned. He had to wade through a lot of crap to get to that belt.

Management wanted a Diesel/Carl Oulette feud, but they put a stop to that before it got off the ground, in fact he's pretty much the only guy they've admitted to burying. With everyone else, there's always some excuse, but with Oulette, Shawn just didn't want Diesel to lose to him, even on house shows and that was that.

Though in Shawn's book, he does say "We couldnt stand the pirate, but we said he could wrestle".
