While Arquette winning the title wasn't really a turning point in the Monday Night War, it could be looked at as a point of no return in it. After that nobody gave WCW a chance of turning things around and being competitive again.
Another myth is of course that the WWF only hires and pushes big, muscle-bound hosses with minimal wrestling talent. That's not true. The WWE only hires and pushes guys they think they can market. Traditionally though big, muscle-bound hosses were the easiest to market to their core audience. But they've given chances to people with different looks and body types for nearly 25 years and had a lot of major successes with them.

The extent of hhh being "buried" after the curtain call. All that really happened was he didn't win the king of the ring, which actually worked out better as Austin won and broke out and hhh was still doing the blueblood gimmick, whereas in 97 when he won it he was dropping the blueblood aspect. Also he won the Intercontinental Championship a few months later, so it didn't last that long.

Oh, thought of another one: That Aldo Montoya wasn't in the Kliq.

If you look back at the Attitude Era there's lots of moments that make you cringe and are painful to watch, so I don't think Mcmahon was doing all that much filtering of Russo.
The difference is WWE was a lot more structured, so even if an idea was bad, it at least made sense. Where as in WCW a bad idea would go in 10 different directions and thus make it 10 times worse.
Also because Steve Austin and the Rock were so hot at the time. Even if the midcard was full of porn stars, pimps and trannies. It didn't matter because people were still going to buy tickets to see Austin and the Rock.

I even remember going through some of my old PPV tapes from those days. The stuff certainly has not aged well.

I've thought of another two.
That the Curtain Call was so shocking because Kayfabe was strictly adhered to at the time. And that Vince wasn't acknowledged as the owner of WWF on TV until the screwjob.
In reality the 96 Slammy awards which happened before the Curtain Call did was full of lots of kayfabe breaking jokes. And at that same Slammies Mcmahon acknowledged himself as the Owner of WWF when giving an award to Freddie Blassey, and during Raws of that era Vince being the owner was alluded to and joked about quite often as were there "insider" references (the type people on here get all butthurt about now, they were happening in 1996 a time which some people on here seem to think Kayfabe was in strict effect)
Also the Curtain Call was only really known about by the people who attended that show at MSG, which would have only been about 20,000 people, even if they all told others the number wouldn't have been all that high. As for the tape of it, only a handful of tape traders would have seen it at the time and it would be discussed online but in those days online wrestling discussion was a very niche thing.
