Hey guys,
Wanting to get your opinions on something. I'm sure by now we all know of the relatively short lived XWF promotion which featured guys like Hulk Hogan, Curt Hennig, Buff Bagwell, Vampiro, Road Warriors and lots of other ex WCW, WWF and ECW guys in late 2001. They filmed a few television shows at Universal Studios in Florida (The Impact Zone I believe) and then basically turned into an independent company before fizzling out in 03-04 and dying with none other then Viscera as their World Heavyweight Champion.
I guess my question is, if after those tapings in 2001 they eventually got picked up in say September or October of 2002 how screwed would they have been? Hogan was in WWE, Curt Hennig was in WWE, Jerry Lawler was in WWE, Piper and Sable were both gearing up for a WWE return in early 2003. That was basically every big star they had.
And the XWF could not have just gone out and picked up the ex WCW talent because TNA had a lock on them because of Jeff Jarrett. The XWF would legitimately have featured Vampiro as a top guy and their next biggest star probably would have been Bagwell. After that you would've had nobody.
So the question I ask you all, how does the XWF survive if they get the illustrious television deal that they needed to survive?

Overall, the thing they needed to survive was financial support.

I don't think there's any real scenario where they had a chance. They're whole success hinged on having Hogan there and since he was in WWF/E not too long after the tapings they were pretty much screwed.
