So it's free on Steam, but not Xbox?
That's a bit unfair, eh?

The concept of gaming with a computer still bewilders me. Like, I thought games were meant to be played on a big TV Screen next to actual people, not on a tinier screen with some friends that you met on the internet. I'll take a controller over being hunched over a keyboard and mouse any day.

More like the fact that HDMI ports on a PC being a thing that exists. You like to play on your TV sitting on the couch with a controller? You can still do that.... :/

Funny that the guy who throws his gamertag in his sig on an online forum where he likely knows none of us longs for the day of playing games with actual people on a couch.

There's also an achievement attached, I believe.
If you own L4D2, and help someone on a "free weekend" finish a campaign, you get "Good Guy Nick".
Not sure if that holds true today or not.
But if you own a PC that can run L4D2, and you don't own it, I recommend checking it out. The modding community alone still makes the game fun enough to play 4 years after release. Can't say that about many other games...

I'll be the first to admit that I'm old fashioned when it comes to gaming. I'm just so hard wired to have a controller in my hands when I play games, and looking at a TV Screen. I suppose It's time to get with the times.
And yes. I do long for the days of couch gaming, mainly because I no longer have any friends outside of here haha

A: That porno sucked. So it's free on Steam, but not Xbox? That's a bit unfair, eh? B: It's not really unfair, Steam is Valves digital distribution platform and being the devs of L4D2 means they can do with it what they wish. With XBOX there's no way Microsoft would just let people have it for free, Valve would have to pay Microsoft just to give something they own away, that's the unfair part.

How many PC gamers, aside from the casual crowd, doesn't already have L4D2? Still this isn't exactly a new thing, Valve gives away their games for free a lot. Such as free Portal 2 for anyone who downloaded Steam on Mac.

I would be more excited if I didn't live in Australia, where I am forced to play the low violence version.
Still, thanks Gaben.

Yeah, Microsoft aren't really the best at letting developers give stuff away. For example, the update for Payday 2, they still haven't released it on Xbox because it's a couple of gigs, and they'd rather bundle it with some paid DLC, whilst the PS3 has had the superior Patched version for nearly a month now.
And of course, PC's miles ahead, but it's to be expected.

This is great, putting together a gaming PC over the next month so nice to have a free game to play on it.
Also grabbed the Skyrim Legendary edition for a tenner and spotted quite alot on the Steam sale I want to grab. (I also have like 50 unplayed gamers on my xbox through various sales over the last 2 years - so f*** knows where I'm going to find all the time to play them)

Thank god I am able to just claim it and then can download it later when I get home. Stupid WiFi at my mom's place. EDIT: Which I did about an hour ago, just to be clear.
