Well...it kinda does. If we assume that the top guys all worked house shows, and added up televised and non-televised, then maybe we get the same number of shows, or more comparable. Televised main events, honestly we'd be lucky to see 27 appearances by Hogan over the course of several years. I don't put much credence in WWE caring about the numbers, or that they "prove" anything simply because Dolph (by this chart) is a far better draw than Orton, and they've kept the pedal down on Orton for almost 10 years. That's my point. People are just featured more now than they used to be. Not that it isn't a good achievement, but I think the relevance of the numbers is a bit off. If Cena retired tomorrow and they picked a new top face, Punk, Bryan, anyone....that guy would top the list in 2014. Regardless of whether they were worthy of it or not. Not necessarily. Keep in mind, that's main events featuring 10,000 fans. There's things that factor into that with advertising and such as well. Meltzer has listed the top draws for probably close to 2 decades at this point at least so he has to know something about how it works.

lol, I honestly don't mind Batista being involved in a title feud as much as some people, but it seems like such a waste to put him with Orton. The initial novelty/pop of Batista will be gone by then and I can't imagine crowds getting up for it.

Cena vs Bray Wyatt at WM is horrible. This is WM. This is not a B level PPV like Over the Limit. That's a clear insult to Cena.
Ridiculous.

Hey, if Cena main events against Wyatt, we may finally have that heel turn! They already teased us with bearded-Cena when they showed him pictured as Jesus. It all makes sense now...

Not looking good for D-Bry, if HBK isn't wrestling. Bryan/heel-Sheamus could work. But the guy really desreves a better spot than "and also here's a Daniel Bryan match!" Punk and Cena have battled injuries and not wrestled that many TV matches, Sheamus has been hurt since the summer, so Bryan has carried the company on the face side for the majority of the year.
Batista won't just come in and win the Rumble like that though...will he?

Actually if you believe in the main event is the main reasons for the BUYZZ RATES, Ryback has drawn a good buyrate in 2 separate occasion. 2012 Hell in a Cell drew very well and one of his main events vs Cena(Payback I think) drew better than No Way out in 2012 did. Don't have Bryan's numbers memorize but I do remember his match with Punk at money in the bank 2012 drew a better buy rate than Punk vs Cena MITB 2011.

I want no part of John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt, because I don't want fun-lovin', smilin' John Cena to cut a "Hey, Harris over here sure got Husky, AM I RIGHT YOU GUYS?!?!" promo on Wyatt.

Batista won't just come in and win the Rumble like that though...will he? It's a tough spot for the WWE too. If they truly believe HBK will come back, then they can't really build up a second big match for Bryan to be a part of in a just-in-case HBK doesn't show. I'll say the WWE is more confident in HBK wrestling than not.

And I doubt HBK will mess around and not give them an answer until March or something silly. I just want my boy D-Bry to be handsomely rewarded for how hard he's worked and how over he is with the crowd. It is possible that he wins the title before Mania and goes in defending against the Rumble winner.
