I know that their issue is meeting a catch weight but ya gotta figure after her next fight and a fight with McMahon that the demand maybe more prevalent to for Rousey to come to a compromise and get the deal done. Do you think UFC officials want to protect Rousey from the fight due to risk to losing momentum with such a cash cow/cross over star that she is?

No one outside of hardcore fans knows who Cyborg is. Maybe 10% of the audience is yelling for this fight, and Dana is not in that group. Ronda will be kept busy fighting UFC women for the rest of the year.
Now if Ronda lost a couple and the shine came off her...hell yeah Cyborg would be signed in a heartbeat and Ronda would have to fight her at whatever weight the UFC says or retire.

All they'd have to do is a Silva/Leben thing and feed her Tate. 45 seconds later, instant title shot.

No as even if she ever did join the UFC Cyborg has said that she couldn't cut down to 135.

While she's in the spotlight, both title and publicity wise, the UFC will keep Cyborg in Invicta. They won't try to make a star out of her while Ronda brings in the cash. Also, if Cyborg can't make 135 it's a pointless fight for the UFC. Why job out the champ if the challenger can't stay in the division. The funny thing is while Ronda is saying "Fight me at 135" I think Tate would actually be down for fighting Cyborg at 145.

Going up in weight favors the heavier person. It's why Cyborg always calling out Ronda to come up and fight her is a douche move. And of course she could make 135, she just would have to lose some muscle over the next year or so. And Ronda needs real competition. Otherwise we have an Awesome Kong situation, and no one wants that.

But didn't Ronda start her career at 145lbs? Plus, based on a podcast interview with Jay Mohr, her walking around weight is normally significantly higher than her fighting weight.

Doubt it. Cyborg has always had enough problems making 145. I think if she cut to 135 it would pretty much deplete her and you wouldnt have both of them at their best.
I guess you just got to respect that they are in different divisions. If Ronda never ran from 145 as soon as she was on Cyborg's radar, then 145 would probably be the division the UFC picked up. All the cards moved to Ronda's side of the table when Cris tested positive though and then 135 became the premier division that all women must fight at if they have any hopes of relevancy. Cyborg is too big for the weight class..just like Gina Carano would be. Ronda just had to drop a bunch of fat..it's harder to cut muscle.
