Looking at this I can only imagine how the audience in the early 80s could even make what was going on...really ahead of it's time.

Would anyone have the PWI Ring Reports on this card? I wonder if this was the curtain-jerker.

Looking at this I can only imagine how the audience in the early 80s could even make what was going on...really ahead of it's time. I was just watching their various battles in Japan. Obviously this is much shorter than their other bouts, but you're right, even in this abbreviated match, you can see how ahead of their time these two were. Thanks for the great find.

There is something very Rey Mysterio Jr v. Chris Benoit about this.
Imagine McMahon had fallen in love with this instead of Beefcake bodies? I can only imagine.

Besides of-course Tiger Mask/Dynamite, Rose/Backlund and maybe Fujinami/Brito, the rest card looks like utter ass.

I'd hardly think an I-C title match between Pedro Morales and a heel Jimmy Snuka going 18 minutes would be considered a bad thing.
Little Beaver winning a fall with a gorilla press slam had to be one of the most amusing mental images I've ever conjured up. I can picture Gorilla Monsoon calling that finish, "Look at the strength of Little Beaver! Sky Low Low must be some 10-15 feet in the air! Holy Moses! 1...2...you can count to a hundred!"

I'd hardly think an I-C title match between Pedro Morales and a heel Jimmy Snuka going 18 minutes would be considered a bad thing. I don't know, Snuka had a tendency to get lazy in longer matches. I'd imagine Bob Orton vs. Pat Patterson could've been a good little mid-card match even though Patterson was past his prime at this point. How long did the WWF have a Junior Heavyweight title? Here's some info on it - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WWF_Junior_Heavyweight_Championshipwww.wrestling-titles.com/japan/newjapan/wwf-j.htmlIt looks to me like it was originally created in 1965 to be little more then a vanity title for Johnny DeFazio before being quickly forgotten about. It was revived in 1978 for WWF's co-promotions with New Japan, defended almost exclusively in Japan, and abandoned in 1985 when the WWF and NJPW end things for good.

This match and the pops they were getting makes you wish that Vince was a mark for this stuff instead of the muscle heads.

Did Tiger Mask have any notable matches in the WWE that I should check out? After a quick glance on thehistoryofwwe.com, he kinda disappears from the WWF until November when he shows up for some television tapings which includes a match against a young Curt Hennig. He then does a few tour days with them, including a televised MSG show against Jose Estrada and a televised Philly house show against Eddie Gilbert. He then disappears again after working another set of television tapings in early December. He worked some house show matches against notable names like Mr. Fuji, Mr. Saito, Buddy Rose and Johnny Rodz, but I doubt any footage of them exists.

How long did the WWF have a Junior Heavyweight title? As another poster said until '85, but then there was also the more famous WWF World Light Heavyweight Title, which was defended in Mexico(UWA), NJPW and Japan and via the J-Crown, in WCW. Also, a japanese WWF president?
