Hey everybody, I haven't been on the forums much to post about this encounter. but it happened last month. There was a "Legends Wrestling Convention" in Rome Georgia. Well before the show I had two friends from work that were eating at an Applebees in the same area as the Civic Center where the event was being held. Well in short, they managed to have a run in with a drunken and very upset Ric Flair. I do not condone anything that they did at this restaurant but would like to pass along what happened.
They let me know that they were sitting at the bar when they noticed sitting at the bar was Ric Flair. both guys are wrestling fans and immediately recognized him and one of them excitedly approached Flair and said "Wow you are the Nature Boy!" to which Flair drunkingly replied "So what the F*** if I am" and put his head down and kept staring at his drink. Well for most it would've ended awkwardly there. Instead the two men decided to heckle and screw with Flair. About 15 WOO's later. Flair was getting pissed. Flair's cell phone rang and he was on the line with someone when the guys over heard (once again i don't condone them being so rude) Flair telling someone on the phone that he is currently living in the hotel next door and has no where to go. ( it was a best western). Luckily the guys backed off as I am sure if they continued Flair would've ended up trying to fight them which would've been a disaster. So Flair kept drinking pretty heavily until his girl friend arrived at the restaurant and walked into to presumingly take Flair back to the hotel or to the show. Flair exited by flipping the two guys off and telling them to go F them selves.
This really bothered me for a variety of reasons. For one the normally charismatic Flair seems to be very dark and unapproachable and easy to set off. He seems to be drinking heavily. and from the sounds of it is living out of a discount hotel. This is really shocking to me as Flair looked to be doing pretty well financially on that episode of "Trading Spouses" from last year. Now it sounds like he is borderline homeless and it makes me wonder if the life of luxury he was displaying on the show was a facade.
I just hope the guy gets some help as I know losing a son can be devastating and certainly doesn't help when a couple of fans are giving him shit.

I actually wrote a very negative post. But have decided to delete it.
I am still very angry about WCW and I do blame Flair as much as anyone else for its demise.

Triple H needs to track him down and beg the man to go through the WWE's rehab program at this point as even before the loss of his son, he seemed like a man circling the drain.
Also the fans in the hotel were out and out d*cks. It doesn't matter how big a fan you are of a guy, how long he was on TV, if he clearly wants to be left alone, you leave him alone.

Didn't he just go through rehab sponsored by WWE?

The man has lost his son, that's got to be literally the worst emotional pain a human being can go through. Plus, his finances aren't the best, so I think he can be forgiven for being rude to a couple of jerk fans.
30+ years of people Whooing at you has to be annoying.

I don't believe that Flair is so poor that he is living at a motel. He would still make a great deal of money month to month.

It works if you're bringing in top dollar but otherwise not. I can believe it, Flair doesn't seem to know anything other than the Nature Boy lifestyle.

We saw him 6 months ago running around styling and profiling with tons of money and a massive house. I don't think it's possible to drop that quickly. If he sold the house I'm sure he definitely would have got a million for it. Throw in all the other WWE perks he gets and it's hard to believe. Only way this is true is if Flair has a nasty drug habit or made a very very bad investment.

Wasn't Flair living in the Charlotte motel his son died in?

He's like the original Bling Bling rapper, lost in his image, living beyond his means and ultimately paying for it when all the fame/money goes away. Accept he had 40 years to wise up and put some money away... most rappers have like 2-3 good years.

He probably was renting it and got evicted and had to move into a hotel. If this is all true, Flair needs to save some cash (Even if he has to pimp himself to every independent in the country) and buy a small house and live there. Live well below his means until he can get back on his feet entirely.

Ric Flair's kid died. His life sucks, and sadly, his life is going to be miserable until he's dead. I guess I know this because my cousin died a few years ago, and his mother just can't and won't get over it. I read up on people losing their kids, and basically you just have to try and live with the pain because it's never going away.

It's a possible but questionable story. It's not a first-hand account. It's a "Hey guys, my friends told me this" (No offense towards the OP)
Even if it was a first-hand account, we'd need to get more corroboration from other sources before we believed the story willy-nilly. It's plausible, but I'm skeptical.

I'll echo the others here. I question whether this story is even true. that said if it IS true the only dicks in this story are the 2 entitled fanboys.

I'd like to add the possibility that the person in question may not have been Flair, just some poor unlucky guy with a striking resemblance.

If he's living in a hotel, I highly doubt it's the one next to the bar in Rome, GA where he happens to be appearing that night.

I have a close friend who went to this show and ended the night with a bad Flair encounter. After the actual show at the Forum in Rome, GA, there was a deal where you could pay $50/person to go to a cigar bar on the same street and have an "intimate evening with Ric Flair". Apparently he was supposed to tell stories, do a meet and greet, etc. I had little interest in the actual show, but this intrigued me due to having a once in a lifetime chance to 'hangout' with Ric Flair. Ultimately I decided against going, opting to save money for Christmas. I'm glad I did. Apparently Flair showed up for the event late. My friend said it was around an hour. He then came in, got a beer, sat down at a table, watched the Alabama game that was on, and smoked a cigarette. After that, he proceeded to get into an argument with the promoter over money. Then Flair left without saying a word. Obviously those who paid the $50 were quite pissed. Most demanded a refund, but of course they didn't get it. I grew up a big Ric Flair fan, but the guy obviously has issues. He's a huge prick for doing this to fans who paid to meet him exclusively. EDIT: I just found this link concerning the incident www.wrestlezone.com/news/432115-ric-flair-reportedly-bails-on-meet-and-greet. Just wanted to post this so no one thinks I'm making the whole thing up.
