Say what you will about Bray Wyatt, when it comes to cutting a promo, he can produce something fierce. The spider walk is just chilling when it's done farther away.

I've never bought in fully with the Wyatt shtick, but it's clear to me that Bray has a very impressive handle on his character. Now his in-ring work on the other hand.....

It's WRESTLING. Every wrestler is corny. "Corny" is not a good argument.

One of the most respected wrestlers is a guy who plays a "corny" gimmick of an undead wrestling zombie.
As much as I kayfabe hate Bray Wyatt and co. for their antics and actions against Bryan, their promos are really well done and creepy as all hell.
(And I suppose, since I want to see the Wyatt Family get beaten up, they're doing their job well as heels.)

It's WRESTLING. Every wrestler is corny. "Corny" is not a good argument. Jake wasn't corny. Savage wasn't corny. Foley wasn't corny. Hell, Cody Rhodes played a more convincing crazy guy when he was "deformed".

Wrestling needs more outlandish characters like this.
Wyatt is one of the only people on the roster who has a gimmick let alone is allowed to embrace it and is given a chance to get it over.
The problem is the WWE still seem to have the "oh shit, we're losing fans to MMA, we better try and win them back by making our program and talent bland instead of realising we've lost them for good and trying to appeal to the crowd who actually want our product" mentality but at least they're slowly moving out of that. People watch wrestling for the outlandishness of it all and over the top characters, it's no coincedence it's two most successful periods were two of it's most over the top.
The gimmick less "wrestlers" like Bret Hart and Chris Benoit always have a place on the roster, but they shouldn't be the majority, they should stand out as the minority, ie on a TV show full of over the top characters they are the one or two elite guys who are so good in the ring they don't need no gimmick.
Nowadays the gimmicks are the exception which means the WWE are doing it all wrong. Everyone knows Wrestling matches aren't legit sporting competition so I don't know why they don't embrace the camp a bit more.

Bray and his crew are basically what WWE needs right now: Outlandish villains for us to direct our hatred towards.

With the rat and the hair pulling? And, Savage...not corny? I say this as a life long Randy Savage fan, but that man had a nice slice of ham with a side of corn on everything he did, from his attire to his mic work. It was what made him memorable.

I think wrestling without the hamminess and corniness just isn't worth watching. Yes, the matches may be of technical superiority, but that's all for naught if you don't have stories to balance things out.

I'm usually a detractor or Wyatt's abilities, but man, I have to admit. That gave me goosebumps. He's starting to win me over.
Also, if wrestling wasn't corny, it'd be the most vapid fake sport there is. Corny is what makes wrestling so memorable, for better or for worse.

he is good at developing his character, but IDK I guess its just not for me. Still kinda find him boring. It's not him, but I never did like cult leader/devil's advocate creepy characters. (Except Undertaker and Kane)

This guy's going places. He's only what, 26?
And yes, the cornier the better. Corniness is essentially the entire wrestling art form.

This is, pretty much, exactly what I wanted from his character.
The Wyatt family has won me over.

Hell, Cody Rhodes played a more convincing crazy guy when he was "deformed". They are all corny. All of these characters are corny. The guy with the mullet and the snake was corny. The guy with the frizzy hair, who dressed up as a rainbow and created tiny tornadoes in the air with his finger was corny. Foley was corny³. Masked Cody Rhodes was hilarious and corny. By the way I never said that "corny" equalled bad. It just is what it is and it's corny. Wrestling is a freak show. One of the few guys who's not corny is Brock Lesnar because he's a legitimate monster.
