I dunno, guy's first promos were against The Rock and The Undertaker. Gotta think SOMETHING big was planned for him early on. he made the mistake of calling Undertaker's worst promo ever boring. ...and injuring just about every guy he worked with in his first three weeks.

Yeah I remember Jericho saying in his book that people were complaining so much about working with him to start with that Vince made X-Pac the agent for all Jericho's matches until further notice.

I've seen that poster yeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaars ago somewhere and had no idea why Jericho was on there. I believe Mick's first words when Vince called Mick to ask him were "Vince...I just retired" "WHAT!? I'M VINCE MCMAHAON GODDAMMIT!! THE GENETIC JACKHAMMER. YOU'LL DO WHAT I SAY OR YOOOOUUUU'RRRRRE.. FIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR-" "Ugh.. alright." "RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR-" *Foley hangs up the phone* "..... Mick? Hello?"

I remember reading about Foley's reaction at Mania, but as I remember they didn't tell him he was replacing anyone and his first guess for the spot was Kurt Angle

He talks about it in his second book. He had a match with Foley where Foley told him, he didn't care how hard he hit him, but other guys would care. And left it, Jericho took that as a cue to lighten up. Am I the only person who bought the all day package?? I can't remember a thing on it but I have a vhs recording that started early that morning and went through 2 tapes. I didn't buy it but watched it on an illegal satellite dish, does that count? It was pretty cool. Interviews with guys, highlights. There's a super condensed version on the WrestleMania 2000 DVD, where they just show a few highlights from the first 1,999 WrestleManias, er, 15 Manias. The interview with Triple H on the Warrior DVD is from WrestleMania All Day Long.

Gotta think SOMETHING big was planned for him early on. he made the mistake of calling Undertaker's worst promo ever boring. also in the book he mentioned how he was trying to be a WCW style overacting heel (the whole pouty, about to cry look with the Rock in the debut), because no on mentioned things got done differently in the WWE, and it rubbed a lot of people the wrong way in the back because he didn;t have many (any?) allies when he first showed up to try and help him adjust or tell him what Vince was looking for so they thought he had an attitude problem. the Undertaker thing pretty much killed his push until he said in the book when the whole Steph ("..trash bag ho!") thing finally got him moving forward.

I like that Xpac, for all the shit the Kliq pulled, was universally regarded as THE worker in the WWF. I've seen several shoots where guys are burying Shawn and Hall and Nash, but The Kid gets props for being able to go with ANYONE in the ring. It's a nice bit of respect over personal opinion. Even in Jericho's book, as soon as he's put with Xpac he's like "If anyone could pull me out of this hole it was him."

Yeah I remember HBK or Nash, maybe both saying that they always tested some wrestlers by putting them in the ring with Waltman. If you couldn't have a good match with Waltman, you weren't regarded as a good worker. Such as what happened to Dean Douglas after a match with Kid, and Kid went back to the Kliq and said "He just doesn't have it".

I'm puzzled as to why this main event was always assumed to be a 4 way, especially when Rock/HHH was the obvious direction to go in (and the one they did go in after WM). I did recall some news back then about Big Show being contractually obligated to be in the WM 2000 main event, which was why he was there despite not really being over. The Jericho thing had to be rumored very early on, since even a month in he wasn't being pushed at all.

To be fair, that Taker Promo was awful.
