When you look at the usual suspects of colourful characters that WWE likes to bring back for their "Old-School" shows or backstage skits, it's usually the Wrestlers with either fun gimmicks, catchphrases, distinctive looks, memorable finishers or just very likeable personalities.
So which wrestlers from the current generation (or even a couple of years back) can you seen becoming re-occurring "Legends" (think more Godfather and Too Cool than Hulk Hogan and Bret Hart) in years down the road? Which guys or girls can you seen making appearances in 30-second backstage skits, Raw talk show segments or even throw-back Wrestlemania battle royals?

R-Truth probably, since he amuses Vince. Santino. It's tough to say since the midcard of the 2000s, guys like MVP, Benjamin, Masters, Kennedy, Carlito, Morrison, etc, etc seem to be forgotten and erased from WWE history.

Santino has a Rumble spot for life. Goldust somehow used this spot to transition back into the main roster (it helps that he's better than ever).

Santino, R-Truth, Hornswoggle, Kofi for sure. 3 MB, even if they push McIntyre as a singles guy again, I see a balding Heath Slater and Jinder coming down and helping him against some loudmouth heel in 10 years.
Really though, it all depends on who's going to be on good terms with the WWE in 10 or 20 years. Hell I love the guy, but Grandmaster Sexay is a freaking "legend" now. All it takes is not burning your bridges, not being a dumbass who runs their mouth, and if you are (remember when the Outlaws were in TNA and shooted on Vince and Triple H?) then learning to apologize.

I agree which is why I made this post actually. A lot of mid-carders from around losely 2004-2010 were remarkably average and unrecognisable, I'm talking Danny/Doug Basham, Luther Reigns, Dave Taylor, D.H. Smith, Kenny Dykstra, Ted DiBiase Jr, Manu, etc And the ones who did stand out seemed to have a (currently) sour relationship in terms of how WWE views them: Mr Kennedy, Eugene, Carlito, Matt/Jeff Hardy, The Hurricane, A host of WWE/ECW Talent including Sabu,Sandman,Tazz. Plus the ones who are sadly dead (Eddie, Umaga). Of course there are exceptions and I'm sure this thread will prove that the future "legends" slot can comfortably be filled in WWE programming, It does make you note how much talent is now either lost from WWE recollection or were just very unremarkable from 2004-2010.

Judging by how these things tend to go, they'll probably mostly be rolling out a mummified Jimmy Snuka and a Sgt. Slaughter robot.

The Hardy Boyz have better chance at making legend returns.
But who do I think?
JBL, The Dudley Boyz, AJ Lee, Cody Rhodes, Antonio Cesaro, 3MB, Prime Time Players, and Damian Sandow.

Depends. I think it all depends on who gets jobs after retirement. (road agents etc.)

Fandango. PTP are over. Not Too Cool over but memorable enough that they'll get a pop as long as they stick around for a few more years at least. Not only that but the crowd probably won't get sick of their shtick like they did with Scotty and co.

They're over in the sense that fans cheer them because they're faces. Having seen them live a couple times, they're no Usos, Rhodes, Shield, Kofi or Mysterio over. They're "let's dance in front of the hard camera" over. I've seen this. Live. And laughed. I understand they have a contingent of fans on the boards that insist on fantasy booking them into prominent tag positions, but so did Snitsky and Morrison. And I loved Morrison.
