Bryan Danielson and Kamala. It wasn't a classic by any means, but it was way better than it had any right to be.
Cactus Jack and Sting.

Neither guy was really a master technician like Bret Hart, but the feud between Cactus Jack and Shoji Nakamaki in IWA Japan produced quite a few good Deathmatches. Foley was a lot more proficient than many might think, but he also came to realize pretty early that brawling helped him stand out a lot more. He put it something like "I know a lot of holds, but I found that the more punches I threw and the less holds, the fewer peanut butter sandwiches I had to eat", paraphrasing, but yeah, a guy like him was better off doing forearm strikes than leglocks. For me, one that would be under a lot of radars would be Super Crazy and Chris Masters. Their feud was not very long, but they had some really damn good matches for what they were, and seemed to bring out the best in one another. See when I first read his book, I was about 12 years old, so I didn't understand what he meant. He said more nice wrestling moves, more peanut butter sandwiches. More chairshots, less peanut butter. And I loved peanut butter sandwiches, so I was like "why the hell are you doing chair shots then? don't you want the peanut butter!?"

Bryan Danielson and Necro Butcher. I loved the one match they had in PWG. Bryan wins due to ref stoppage for excessive violence. Who would have thought? Saw that match not too long ago. Highly underrated.

Highly underrated. I feel that Necro is underrated in general. Sure, he's known for being a deathmatch guy mainly, but the guy really can go in a wrestling match with some relaxed rules. His matches with Joe, Bryan, and Low Ki were all excellent. Top notch quality & it's not just the other guy. He gives off that auro of a Bruiser Brody & shows that it can still be executed correctly. Butcher around 2002-2009 was some really incredible stuff.

I actually prefer his non-death match stuff to be honest. Dude is a great brawler.

On paper it didn't seem like he'd fit in a company like ROH but I loved his time there. His barbed wire match with BJ Whitmer was insanely good & I loved him in the age of the fall.

Regal with 'anyone you'd think Regal's very distinctive style totally wouldn't mesh with'.

Not exactly 5-star classics you'd ever want to rewatch, but the Randy Savage vs. George "The Animal" Steele feud was more entertaining than it had any right to be.

Regal with 'anyone you'd think Regal's very distinctive style totally wouldn't mesh with'. Actually I always thought Regal worked best with guys who had a completely different style then him. They bring the flash and excitement that gets the crowd into it while he brings the basics and psychology and storytelling that holds the match together. I always found Regal's matches against guys with similar styles to him, like Finlay, to be kinda boring.

Bryan Danielson and Delirious. JBL and Eddie Guerrero, never thought they'd mesh so well.
And the biggest one to me is Benoit and Booker. It should have just been a filler mid card match but everytime they met it was match of the night.

I agree that Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Angle seems like a weird chemistry, but lest we forget Steve started out as a technical guy. Stone Cold was just not a technical character.

Benoit and Booker's back-and-forth matches in WCW and WWE were quite some highlights in the prestige of the WCW TV and WWE United States Championship histories.

I always felt that Umaga and Jeff Hardy had outstanding chemistry, and I figured it would be a trainwreck. Undertaker and Batista are in a similar category for me, too. Agreed on both counts. 'Taker and Batista's WM match for the title was far better than it had any right being

Speaking of Benoit, I loved the two matches he had with men. I've always been in the Luger was a good worker boat, he had a darn good run of PPV matches, about fifteen matches rated three stars or above by Meltzer from 88-91. Shame he lost his motivation in 91.
